Thanks Mega - I ran them throw a light soak after my
Muddy power washing experience and will give them a decent wash before packing them up to bring to @broark next weekend [emoji41]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ok guys, today is my last day wearing the WT Jeans, they will be washed and them packing in the Yota to bring to @Broark this weekend for the Austin meet up. I have some updates, and will use this thread to document my 8 hour road trip on Thursday, but I wanted to touch base about a few things I have found to be true about the 888 cut since wearing them for 6 weeks. Now, mind you, they were small on me, and it took until this weekend for them to really loosen up a good deal - plus, I know the fit has been tweaked, but here is what I have learned.
1. The 21 oz denim gets seriously better after about 20 wears. I have had the 21 oz in a bunch of different cuts, and the I feel the same can always be said. When the denim is brand new and ultra-uniform, it has a tendency to feel a bit "boring" for those of use who regularly wear unsanforized options. However, after about 20 wears, the creases begin to set in, the electric blue begins to pop through and it is simply a glorious denim.
On the same note, the 21oz denim really is probably the more "easy to care for" japanese denim around. I've had most brands, and the 21 oz is simply an easy to use, easy to clean, easy to wear fabric, and deserves the popularity is has globally.
2. The 888 cut is the "jack of all trades" in terms of cuts. For me, the size 36 was about 1/2 a size smaller than what I would have sized for myself, BUT, that gave me the opportunity to try it as a slim fit, and at which it performed exceptionally. The top block is fitted. Like really fitted, but in a nice way. The addition of the 4th fly button is a really nice addition and even when they were nearly new and ultra snug, I had very little if any pull at the fly - something that continuously bothers me on my 3 button fly 634 variations.
The thighs are not "roomy," but they are not tight either. The taper is "just enough" for those who want a tailored look without getting the snug calves syndrome. I really like the taper, but I do wish they were about .25" smaller at the hem so they would stack with sneakers. I found I had to cuff them (obviously these are unhemmed) more than I wanted to to wear with chucks and vans.
What does this mean? If you can afford to size down with the thigh, you will get a remarkable slim fit in a beautifully tailored cut. If you size TTS, you will have a genuinely comfortable jean that looks sharp and has some mobility. Should you size up? I for damn sure would love to have a pair sized up. I think a slightly loose version of these would look great, and offer a nearly perfect 1966 repro type fit with a bit higher rise than is traditional on japanese jeans.
Anyways, thanks again @Megatron1505 for letting me kick off the tour. I will post some pictures thursday before I hit the road and after the WTJ have dried after their wash.

@Appfaff , your tour leg has been exemplary mate and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you so much for your efforts, I'm sure that this leg will go down in forum tour history, great work

There is plenty of beer and brisket in Austin to keep your posts exciting in my book [emoji12]

many thanks guys - excited to meet some of the IH Forum peeps this weekend as well! The 888WTJ are drying from a gentle machine wash last night, and my legs feel lost without them.
I have some updates to make late today, but it's crunchtime in order for me to leave town in time tomorrow.
I'll be sure to snag some post wash pics of the jeans as well once they dry!

Hey Broark, I measured the waist and they are right at 36 now, maybe a hair under. Hope that helps!

Got the jeans from @Appfaff last night, and managed to get a IH key ring from G.
But no chocolate! :o
More photos to come, but I have the jeans on now and I have to say this is the first time I've put on a pair of IH jeans and they've fit me damn near perfectly. I can safely say I will buy a pair of jeans in this cut soon, you guys nailed it. We're heading to the renaissance festival today, so I'll be updating the thread with pictures soon!

I want photos of jousting.

Just got back to Austin from our weekend at the Ren fest and visiting my girlfriend's mom in Conroe.
If you ever take a road trip in Texas stop at Buc-ees, they're basically a Texas-sized truck stop with clean bathrooms and a massive selection of snacks and drinks.
Made it to the festival:
Jousting!
Some nice stained glass:
Shot of the jeans with my new RW 9874s:
Not normally a selfie kind of guy but wanted to test out the portrait mode on my new phone:
More to come, I'll try to take more pictures daily! -
Great update Austin! Nicely done!

Rocking on leg 2 with a great start

Thanks everyone, I'm just trying to live up to the previous leg.
Started the day off walking the dog.
Don't mind the Birks as I only wear them to take her outside.
Fit pic of the jeans, they are a more little snug in the thighs than I typically prefer but I don't mind.
This is my first time actually wearing the 21 oz. denim and I like how comfy it is.
Had a second phone interview before work to try and land a better job, hopefully I hear back some good news soon.
Had my afternoon coffee which sadly isn't that great, but I get it for free since I know the people who work there. I've been at my current job so long that they know my order and just give me free coffee every day.
Got home and Olive was so happy that she turned into a parrot.
This evening I went with my girlfriend to her Spanish class at the local church, I'm not religious at all but I'm not one to turn down free food and good company. This was the last class so they had a feast of food from different central and south American countries made by volunteers in the community who organized the class. So authentic home cooking! It was a very nice gesture and the food was delicious.
My plate got a little full but you get the idea.
Until tomorrow!
