    Good luck @Broark

Had to have mine ordered direct from RW as I was a bit slow off the mark, but hats off to standard & strange for the outstanding customer service.

I didn't think I'd be interested in RWs again, but the Irish Setter 9874 looks really good. However it's har to tell what it will look like broken in. The inner colour is really bright, contrast could be pretty high.

Red wing was the proverbial gateway drug that got me into all the footwear I love today. Over the years I've had Iron Rangers, 875s, 877s, Ice Cutters, etc…all of which I eventually got rid of.

My first pair was the 1907 in Copper Rough and Tough and while I am in agreement with @Max Power in that I'm not really interested in much that RW is doing these days, the 1907 is still one I find interesting enough to keep around (although the outsole blows and lost all traction in about half a season)….

You won’t be satisfied until you wear Iron Heart.

The tea core leather will evolve beautifully on the 9874.

9874's look really good, I'm still going back and forth on if I really need a pair or not.

So I shot S&S an email to see if they have anymore of the 9874's coming and they do, so I'll probably grab a pair when they get them in.
I've never worn Red Wing boots before, but I'm guessing if I'm a comfortable 11.5 in both the Alden Trubalance and Viberg 2045 lasts I should be okay ordering these in 11.5 as well?

If you have any Wesco I'd go with that same size @Broark  I don't own any Alden or Viberg.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them…
                  Well, I have others.

Thanks @steelworker , unfortunately I've yet to own a pair of Wesco boots but it'll happen eventually I'm sure.
After speaking with Neil from S&S he thinks I should go with a 12 as opposed to the 11.5, as my other comfortable lasts have more toe room compared to the 9874.

Yeah I’d say the toe is a bit narrower on these than the regular 875, but that doesn’t help you much either ha. Hopefully it works out for you!

Well I tried a pair on today and 12 is definitely the way to go!

                            dope boots.

                            the leather looks crazy.

with all these overpriced (to me) boots it's always great to see a post like this.

do you recall what kind of leather they are?

Just got these 3140 Chukkas for a steal from eBay.
They‘re a little snug in the front but not entirely uncomfortable. However, maybe 2 mm more and they would be perfect.
Anyone know if I can stretch them slightly e.g. by using a shoe tree?

They’ll stretch quite easily with wear, probably enough for your needs. If the insole is removable you could also take that out in the meantime, then put it back in when the stretch has happened.

In case they're a size 42: they don't stretch, they shrink. Sell them to me.
