It's quite a different fabric. The 718 is not as thick or as coarse as the serge. It has a much more luxurious finish and is a much tighter weave. Still very soft and wearable.

I'll add this, while cargo pants are only ever going to be for work or leisure activities, the material if the 718 is much "smarter" than the material of the 714. I love them both.

Those look great! I miss my olive 705s. I have yet to get my hands on a size 36 of these, the 34 are too small at the moment.
