I'm a fan of the tonal laces on the 70s as they don't get as dirty as the white ones. Especially when wearing denim.

The 70s are worth tracking down, great quality and pretty comfortable. Picked up the denim ones for £30 from cruise recently.

All the other cons that I have tried on have been uncomfortable as fuck!

Mr. Hound! Hope you're well, dude. Are the 70's a vintage style model? I have zero knowledge about these things…

Busy as fuck old boy…... aaarrrrrghh!

As I understand it the 70s have a thicker sole (more comfortable), higher rubber foxing (basically the rubber lip around top of sole is higher - which looks better imo), quality of stitching is better.

                  These are the denim ones.....

I went with a pair of 70's. Got to say they are much more comfortable than the standard Chucks.

The 70's are just an overall higher quality pair of Converse.  Better materials and better construction.  Everything from the canvas to the laces to the eyelets are thicker and more durable.  Also much more cushioning and much more comfortable than a "normal" pair of Chucks as stated above.

You should definitely try them out, especially considering you've never owned a pair of Chucks.

and thanks @Jordonf9.  For whatever reason I could not find the 70's on the site yesterday.

The(regular) Converse attributes that may make them uncomfortable,or distasteful to some are what makes them,in my opinion the best possible shoes to wear while playing drums. Played drums my entire life and the only thing I could wear. The thin flimsy sole make them great for playing a bass drum pedal. I'm sure I'm not the only drummer to ever wear them.

@bryaneidins thanks for the pics, very nice looking pair and another great c/w.

@Jett129 at a guess all the drummers from The Ramones?  😃

Tommy Ramone, who was their original drummer, definitely did not wear Converse. Although I never saw Mark Bell/Marky Ramone play live with them I kind of think he did wear converse.

I fully intend to go to the grave not only having never owned a pair of Chuck Taylors, but having never even tried on a pair.

I actually make the 70s even comfier. I use an old pair of Nike Lunarlon insoles I have been rocking for…jeez at least 3 years and they are still going and comfy! They make my 70s ridiculous comfy and my feet fit perfectly fine in the shoes still.

Wish I could buy lunarlon insoles...I usually keep insoles that are of higher quality from older shoes. Glad I kept them from my Nike SB Koston shoes from years past.

I know, I don't like the Chuck 2 though. The CTAS pro are nice, but like the 70 more. I don't want to buy a shoe just for the insole haha.

There is one website that sells the converse lunarlon insoles, but $37!!! That is half the price of a pair of shoes that come with them…I could see like $20 max, but $37...jeez.
