I thought railcar weren't taking any denim over 21oz to work on these days? That changed?

On their webpage they don't offer hem service for anything over 21oz, but tapering page says 25oz.
My PIH5DCT were hemmed by IHUK at time of purchase.

Railcar does a great job with the tapering service. Or any service for that matter. Their darning service  is second to none. I emailed them ahead of time and asked specifically if they will Work on 25oz denim. they told me yes. one of their railroad car brand jeans that they make and sell is 23oz. Just email info@railcarfinegoods.com if you have any questions. They respond quickly.

@matty123 since you have experience with tappering order . Quick question , I wanted to shorten the hem cuff little which is an option. Don't want legs or thigh shorten. What else I need to provide measurement for tapperingn ? Knee measurement ?  Or if I provide cuff length they will tapper accordingly ?

I've had RCFG taper jeans for me, including 634-XHS and Samurai 25oz. Their crew does an excellent job. Keep in mind their turn-around time for tapering is longer than for hemming.

When you are on their order page, there are several options that you need to address. This covers how much you want them to taper, where you want the taper to start, overall length, hem width, etc.

My only criticism is they only have limited thread thicknesses and colors, and their machine is calibrated to their production standards and can't change the stitch spacing. This means the inside seam stitching will not match the original. They do take out the entire seam to the crotch, so there is no mis-matched threads on the seam.

just sent my 14oz IH's to Railcar last week for hemming and tapering, first time I"ve used them.  I'll provide some feedback on here when I get them back.

When you order tapering on their website you have options to choose. They ask For a thigh measurement @ 2" below the crotch, a knee measurement that you want at 13" below the crotch and they ask for a hem measurement. You provide the measurements that you desire. You do not have to change anything that you don't want changed.

Indigo proof…she does amazing work! Blends the denim very nicely. She got my crotch blowout, knee and the denim by both hems which were being work through. Have to break in the crotch area as it's a little stiff for now. HIGHLY recommend her!

@Jordonf9 would you be able to post some hem pics? I need to get mine in fairly soon and I have some pretty heavy hem fraying. Curious as to how yours look.

I've heard this gal is a legend and will likely be sending my repairs her way.

Knee and crotch work look amazing!

You won’t be satisfied until you wear Iron Heart.

@Jordanf9 was it 50 dollars for each area that needs to be darned? or was the whole repair job 50? im asking based on the indigo proof web site prices.

Total was $90 I believe including shipping. Had knee, two hem areas, crotch blowout and inside of my pocket(which I didn't even notice really….ha).

I've had work done by her as well. She pretty much rebuilt an old denim jacket for me for $110,which also included shipping both ways. If you look at her before and after pics on Instagram you'll be like no way she did that.

Here is the hem work. I wasn't expecting her to do it, I could have done without it as there weren't holes, just heavier wear.

Any suggestions on repairing small holes?
Larger rips, wear, thinning areas Im using Sashiko style.
Should I let the smaller holes wear larger? Then patch?
Or put a few Sashiko stitched over the small stuff?

On-going project, modding my CDO Jacket….

The chest pockets have been moved from the front of the jacket to the back (Kidney pockets), and I Frankenstein'd the pockets from a Filson Wool Liner vest, and some selvedge corduroy from a pair of Gustin's to make hand warmer pockets.

Here's a quick pic of the mock-up of the front pockets, tacked in to place.

My sewing skills are shoddy, at best, but I like what I've got so far. Unfortunately, the pockets were cut uneven by the Filson guys, so I won't end up with perfect symmetry, but that's totally fine with me.

                                      More pics to come later
