Please someone inform me as I'm ignorant to this, what is split steer?  It looks like suede in the pictures to me.  Is it similar to suede?

not sure if IH does anything differently, but it's essentially a way of creating thinner suede materials…

per google:
In very thick hides, the middle split can be separated into multiple layers until the thickness prevents further splitting. Split leather then has an artificial layer applied to the surface of the split and is embossed with a leather grain (bycast leather). Splits are also used to create suede.

Me and @Lindsey went out to get some images for the website and to show her the sights of Gosport… of which there are many!

We didn't end up using this one as these jackets are getting a lot of love but i thought it would be a shame if no one saw it.
