Went on a search for some local stuff for a trade.  Found some nice stuff. The Sam Adams is surprisingly well done.

Dogfish has some great brews. Think I've had them all. A couple real good ones to try are the Palo Santo and the Burton Baton. 120 min iPa is an experience also. Been aging a couple since 2007 just for the heck of it. Gonna crack em when they hit 10 yrs.

                    Recent beers.

Clown Shoes Bluegrass Billionare. I was a little disappointed with this one, I felt like I was just drinking watered down bourbon. No major flavors outside of that. Maybe it is a beer that ages better? I don't know if I got a bunk bottle or what. First Clown Shoes beer I've been a bit disappointed with.

Bruery Humulus Terreux. Right up my ally. Dry, funky farmhouse ale. Could drink these by the caseload, but I'm probably a little biased since I've come to realize that this is my favorite style of beer.

Ballas Point Victory at Sea aged one year. Toned down on sweetness while the coffee flavors got stronger. Aged pretty nicely!

Inspired. Maybe it's the 10.5%. Well-balanced, and hides its strength.

Is it worth the price? I've seen a few different beers from Goose Island that are in that 20-25 dollar price range and always think twice for some reason even though they sound tasty. Talking about Lolita, Sophie, Juliet and Madame Rose.

While I admit it's not a bargain, I'd say it's at least worth trying.  If you like the style, which I do, it's excellent.  Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything comparably good that's less expensive.

Madame Rose is also quite good, I'm not as much of a fan of Sophia or Juliet.

Noted, I'll pick a bottle of either Lolita or Madame Rose next time I see them. I saw that my local Central Market had them last time I was in, will probably swing by later this week.

Decided to open this, and you were right Chris. A little underwhelming, but I see where they were going with this beer. Lots of cinnamon and vanilla. I think the Señorita from Elevation was better.
Also got another bottle of Poterie, will open that one later this week.

I had Halia last summer and am still looking hard at obtaining a couple of those… They were 18€/ bottle here, but it was brilliant...

I also saw Halia in the store, guessing it gets your vote of approval?
Also woke up to some good news, several Wicked Weed beers got approval for sale in Texas today!

                                          Maybe. 😉

Interesting development on the Fantôme Del Ray from Jester King, they're halting sales due to ropiness.
Never heard of that myself, I really enjoyed the beer when I had it at the brewery.
