I realise Haraki-San's inspirations are primarily American and Japanese, but given there's undeniably some British DNA in the IH operation I think @Giles should try to explain the concept of the great British donkey jacket to Haraki. An IH donkey jacket in Melton Wool with a red flannel lining and leather shoulder/back patch would be the absolute dog's 'nads. @Danny RnH do you feel me?

I know, right? I grew up in L'pool and got one off my mates Dad who worked on the docks. One of the greatest jackets I've ever had. And it's truly iconic workwear too.

Very true. I got my first one from a striking docker in Liverpool at the start of the 90's, wore it with pride at many a AFA/ANL event. If IH make one someone should let Corbyn know 😉

Great idea! I am looking for years on the Simmonsbilt Donkey Jacket.
But I´d love to see the pockets in a kind of IH style!

A high-quality IH version with leather shoulders instead of pvc, Melton wool, etc. .. great!

In the early 70's my sister was a skinhead, & most of the boys she hung around wore donkey jackets. A shorter IH version based on the orignal dj, but more fitted would be great.

Beside different types of the classic (cut) Donkey Jacket .. I owned a few years ago also this short cut version with knit cuffs - as well an interesting option  🙂

why is it called a donkey jacket?

reminds me of the chore/work jackets Iron Heart does but in wool

                                        head high, middle finger higher

It was traditionally worn by dockers discharging and loading cargo the equipment used was a steam winch called a donkey hence the name donkey jackets worn by the men involved think @neph93 had an original from Liverpool Docks

They're very thick Monday. Proper work jackets. Absolutely no idea why they're called Donkey jackets though. Worn by the fellas doing all the donkey work maybe? Scratch that then…. 🙂
