If you are concerned with fades, go 02. The 21oz is amazing denim, but it is very slow to fade. The 01 would be way more comfortable, and easy to wear from the get go. 02 is going to be stiff and hard to break in.
APC is just a lighter, more slack stretchy denim. The 01 would probably be the closer of the two, but they're apples and oranges.

555-01 is safer bet concerning sizing. If you are familiar with your measurements and not afraid of shrinkage, then I would go with 555-02. 18oz is something else.

Yeah, I've had 18oz 666s and the 02s. Don't be afraid of it. Get yer measurements right (measure an existing pair the IH way). Giles and his team are really helpful and the 18oz denim is really lovely stuff.
Oh and sabregirl is absolutely right, apples and oranges.

I'm surprised this thread isn't getting more love… This jean has easily become one of my favorites. I am in love with the crispiness of the denim and the fit....
Can't wait to get some crazy fade(z).....
