@Maynard:
Why do people carry these knives? What do you use them for?
I travel a lot for work and just comes in handy around the office. I also have a little boy and again it comes in handy when we are out and about (slicing food, opening packages etc).

@Cutlasshound where did you get it from?
One of my favourite websites. Excellent service and excellent gear.
Check out their quartermaster collaboration knife. It is excellent.

I'm rarely without a knife. It may come as a surprise but I use it for cutting things. Sometimes I'll even let someone who is using their teeth to open a package borrow it.

Do you often need to open packages outdoors? I have scissors, knives, etc at home and work for that kind of thing. I can see the point if you're going to the great outdoors, hiking, etc or if you live in a rural area but not for urban life. I think people get carried away with this and justify the need for it.
To lighten the tone here, laughably my son's Lego-style cutlery knife was confiscated by security at Melbourne airport a few years ago, however, they allowed us to keep the fork, which was sharper and far more dangerous. We pointed this out to the security officials but they were only interested in the blunt, bendy knife!

Does Opinel does count as a knife? If yes, I carry one with myself. It´s cool to open letters, cut my bread when I am not at home, open vinyl-records, this, that.
