IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

@neph93 I'm still at the point where every time I have to get my wallet out of my back pocket I have to anticipate the task because it's a bit of a struggle. Trying to get it out when waiting in the bus line can be a bit awkward sometimes, but it's a small price to pay to sport these beauties.

Mine have softened up noticeably after about 8-10 days worth of cumulative wear, but they're still fairly rigid and nowhere near the pajama-like softness they reportedly develop with a lot of wear. The waist has stretched perfectly although the hips are still a bit tight. And @Filthy25ozJunkie is right, they quickly became my favorite pair, they will be yours as well.

Wearing my 21 oz Beatle Busters today because it's warmed up a bit this week. It's amazing how light and breezy these feel compared to the 666-XHS. Remember when the 21 oz denim seemed heavy?

For my 25th birthday today, my mom surprised me with these 25oz monsters!!
These things are pretty intimidating for my first pair of IH. I tried them on and they seam to fit alright. Pretty tight in the top block and I feel like I'm swimming in a 25oz sea below my knees. Other than that I love them! It was bad lighting tonight but I'll post some fit pics tomorrow in the daylight if anyone is interested in seeing my fat ass wedged into these beasts..IG - @leatherdenimboots

Congrats and good luck with the breaking-in journey. Way to go jumping straight in the deep end!

Haha thanks xtc I gotta admit I'm pretty scared of them already. In the first few minutes of having them on I've already felt the anxiety of claustrophobia and I feel like they can and will literally consume my life. Once they break in I don't know if they'll ever leave my legs…

Go big or go home I guess…

Here are some progression pics. Worn everyday for about 40 days so far. Lighting is a bit excessive but just imagine them a little bit darker.
Love these jeans like they were family.

Does anybody ever taper these from the knee down? Or is that a dumb question?

Yeah you need to hem them a bit, and then just wear them enough so that the denim softens up and they fall more naturally around your ankles.
-
As said before hem them and see how you go.

Thanks guys! Maybe I'll wear them with a cuff for a while before I decide to chop them. It makes me nervous talking about hamming a $400 pair of pants [emoji51]

Hi, Brock.
Just to echo the wisdom already laid down here, these do need hemming. It's a standard job to do on premium denim that only comes in one length. It's also a relatively simple job for a decent tailor/seamstress. Nothing to worry about. The denim will also settle and soften and that will calm the indigo sea a bit. I would also consider a warm soak to eliminate shrinkage. Do this before hemming.
If you really feel the leg opening is too wide for you then tapering is a drastic step and a harder job. I believe that if you choose this, you should find a denim specialist for it. There's been a number of discussions on this forum about it, so recommendations should be easy to find.
That being said, heavily tailoring cuts is also something that's a bit controversial. Personally, I think that while hemming $400 jeans is normal, tapering them is too radical and drastic. Haraki-san and Giles work like artists on the designs and the result is their vision. Modifying the cut just means this is the wrong cut for you, and you're fucking with what was intended. Obviously they are your jeans and it's entirely up to you what you do with them. If it was me and I wasn't happy with the cut, I'd put them up for sale and re-invest the proceeds in the cut I wanted, before tapering what is intended to be a slim-straight cut.

Wow Neph, well stated!
Thanks everybody for the info and the advice! I'm definitely not unhappy with the fit by any means! I'm just not used to a straight leg cut, YET. I've already fallen in love with this denim after only two days and there is no way I can part with it so selling is out of the question [emoji51] I'm going to wear them and be happy with them! Most likely hem them after the fabric softens up a bit.I hope I didn't offend Giles or Hiraki-San or anyone else for that matter by complaining about my fit. Don't get me wrong I love these pants and they will be my constant companion from here on out! Atleast until December 1st when those 666SII show up for the world tour.
Cheers y'all
