Quite frankly, I think people who bump too regularly are arseholes.

Chris, is your house pier and beam or do you have a slab foundation?  Moisture in one form or another is your most likely culprit.  Do you have any indications of a leak anywhere?  Decreased water pressure, higher than normal bill?  Have you had any changes with your HVAC system?

Slab foundation.  Plumbers spent a few hours yesterday pressure testing the pipes and found nothing.  No changes in the HVAC, no signs of roof leaks or changes in landscape drainage, no unusually wet weather, floors and foundation are 50+ years old, though both were restored about ten years ago.  Hardwood floor specialist thinks it might be our rubber backed rugs reducing breathability, despite the fact that the floors started to buckle a couple of weeks ago and we've had the rugs for over a year.  Nonetheless, we've pulled them up and we'll see if it helps.

Well, the horrible illness required a trip in to the doctor today. Sinus, upper respiratory, and ear infections were the diagnosis. Antibiotics, herbal tea with honey, and a few days off work will be the remedy

There should be a hard and fast bump rule, IMHO.

The problem with hard and fast rules is that they need policing.  Policing requires time and effort, which are in short supply, so we rely on the maturity of the sellers.

Its funny to me that they range into 5 figures. The reason people pay a premium for a watch is that it is an heirloom item that will work the same and provide the same value for generations. Apple Watch will be obsolete every year. I'm sure they'll find some suckers and prove me wrong though.

The new MacBook and MacBook Air are totally mystifying in terms of product line segmentation. Consumers are given Sophie's Choice: to get an underpowered machine with a single port for charging AND interfacing, or to get a more powerful machine with better connectivity but an embarrassingly obsolete screen.

I was considering an upgrade until I saw what they brought, now I'll have to look elsewhere.

I have no problem paying with an Apple Watch, however. It's better than paying with a cheap piece of plastic that has a fragile strip that can get damaged, resulting in having to do that "paper trick" every time you swipe.

my thoughts exactly. i mean who would pay for a watch that's 10-17k. i mean all you're technically paying for is the '18k gold' in which you would think how much did they actually mark that up for. i'm fine with the sport edition that could pair up with a nike app to track running info. though i pretty much doubt i'll get the watch no matter how much of a fan boy i am. phone paying, or payless card is fine by me. but waving a wrist to pay is somewhat ridiculous from my point of view.

the design on the new macbook is indeed interesting. no doubt it's not practical to have that single port. what they're essentially doing is to get you to buy more adapters of theirs. though i would want to see where they go forward with their retina pro laptops. i spy a redesign somewhat similiar.

i think this will now fit into the all things apple/mac thread.

Indeed. Regarding the MacBook, I have been a Mac user since 1991, but the keyboards on their laptops just plain suck, and this new ultra-thin design means even less key travel. My daily driver is a 2011 MBP, but I am compelled to use a Windows gaming laptop (that features a great keyboard) when I need to write. The physics of the matter are, a great keyboard requires a thick laptop, and I suppose customers have voted with their dollars that the keyboard is good enough, give us thin.
