Whiskey is weird, there's a huge shady secondary market. Demand is out of control for the bottles I really like.

        Think it, be it.

          @Chris:

According to Wikipedia, "Buckfast contains 15% alcohol … [and]—drop for drop—has more caffeine in it than Red Bull."

Damn, now I want to try it, too.  It's like 4Loko's meaner, more dangerous older brother.  I'm sure there would be instantaneous lawsuits if it were ever distributed in the US.

Chris. May I introduce Buckfast's meaner, more dangerous older brother…...who's doing a 10-year stretch!
          ELDORADO!!

At 17.5%, it packs a punch! Not for the faint-hearted or those who have stuff to do within three days of drinking it. I quote: "One of the finest fortified wines, this should be drank warm, fast and from the bottle, ideally while standing against a bin shed with the hottest wee hairy you can get your hands on. The one drawback to this magnificent drink is experiencing a hangover before you've even got drunk, but with an ABV 17.5%, this will quickly and easily pass. Highly recommended."  Readily available at fine corner-shops in these parts.

            blanton's

            wow what a bourbon

Where'd you find it? I went to 5 liquor stores so far and they are all out.

Everywhere bro. It'll be back in stock. It's a gold standard bourbon.

Not in NYC. I ran out a month ago. Every place I've been so far says it's been sold out since Christmas. They all say the same thing, "Blantons is very hip and in right now, good luck finding it in the city."

The Spirit of Hven Organic Gin is a very nice, locally made gin that I love drinking. Fragrant and you kinda don't wanna stop drinking it..

Love the Erlenmeyer flask bottle, great packaging.

I ended up finding a bottle at DOCS close to Broadway and Bedford.

I'll have to check that place out. DOCs had Blantons for $58+tax.

I'm really enjoying the bottle of four roses small batch I picked up the other day. I've had the single barrel before, and I remember thinking I preferred this one–but I think it merits another tasting...

I've only been able to find the 'entry level' four roses here in Australia, but it's pretty damn delicious so I'm not complaining. It's been hotter'n hell here for the last couple months so my jam has been less single malt, more chilled bourbon of late. Elijah Craig, 15 mins in the freezer - absolutely A+ when it's 9pm and still 30°C

I'm not surprised to learn that Blanton's has become so popular. It's been my "go-to" for 5+ years. Great bourbon; especially for the price.

I've seen it in a lot of films in the past couple years. Recently, GONE GIRL and JOHN WICK.

Saw it in Justified a few episodes ago.

I actually found it at a Wine shop a few blocks away that I didn't realize sold spirits. That was the 8th shop I'd been to though.

Now, per Der666's recommendation, I'm looking for one of the Jefferson Presidential Select bottles. I think they have released a 21, 23 and 25 year.

Let us know how the Jefferson select fairs. Their single malt is a pretty tasty mash, so I would certainly be interested in those aged offerings.

Bourbon: because living in Kentucky just makes you want to drink

@Seul - i would recommend staying away from the green 'special reserve'. Slightly too harsh/ unrefined for the price. The original/ private reserve  (thats about 25% more expensive) is a world away in flavour! A lot like a Booker Noe that doesn't need a bunch of dilution to open up properly.

@Giles Thanks! Long time no speaky!

I've had Special Reserve Green, and it's not that great compared to Blanton's. The Green is watered down to 40% abv. Not worth it in my opinion.
