Hi to all who are anticipating attending Fish'n'Chips 2015 in Gosport.

There is a faint murmuring of following Fish'n'Chips 2015 Gosport with IH HIKE 2015 in Snowdonia.

        See; http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5661.msg383514#msg383514

        In theory this venture could run; Fish'n'Chips 2015 11th & 12th July, straight into IH HIKE 2015 in Snowdonia 13th & 14th? July 2015.

I am mad keen on the idea however, in order for ideas to turn to action support and commitment is needed. So who's interested in "Fish'n'Chips 2015 Gosport back2back IH HIKE 2015 in Snowdonia"?

I could be persuaded to come. I found a Marriott Hotel in Portsmouth, how close is this to Gosport. I did see it's 3.5 miles. How easy is it to get there from London? Thanks. I could bring some duty free booze.

Sam/IH You have to go to downtown near the Spinnaker tower and get the Gosport ferry over to Gosport.

Portsmouth is approx 90 mins from London by train.  Then you catch a 5 min ferry over to Gosport where we now have a shiny new Premier Inn.  If you are flying into Heathrow, I am sure there is some coordination that can be done and taxi shares arranged… @Madame Buttonfly will discuss hotels etc soon….

                                          Hi all

Yes, date for the main event is Saturday 11th July, and of course we'll be looking to make a full weekend of it especially with those of you coming in from further afield!  One of our biggest challenges as the numbers grow is finding decent accommodation locally.

@Sam/IH the Marriott Portsmouth is a nice hotel but unfortunately not very well located.  It's in north Portsmouth, so a good drive from central Portsmouth and the ferry over to Gosport.  It's a bit closer to Gosport by road than central Portsmouth, but still a good 20 mins by car/taxi (longer in our frequent heavy traffic).

I just booked some rooms at the closest place, the Spring Garden Lane Guest House just around the corner, if you want one of these please let me know as soon as possible (plus nights you need).

Other places in Gosport all 1 to 3 miles good walk away, or a few mins by taxi (*good basic hotel, but taxi recommended as not a nice walk down main road with heavy traffic, **often get booked in advance on Saturdays because they are popular wedding venues)

                                          Premier Inn* http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/GOSFAR/gosport

                                          The Alverbank** http://www.alverbankhotel.co.uk

Other places in Portsmouth close to the historic Dockyard, shops and the ferry over to Gosport (travel time to Iron Heart about 20-30 mins total walk to ferry/ferry/walk or ferry Gosport side).

Holiday Inn Express Gunwharf Quays http://www.holidayinn-expressportsmouth.co.uk
                                          The George http://www.thegeorgehotel.org.uk

Hope this helps, early booking is recommended because - as I said above - we suffer from a lack of good guest accommodation in the area.  I have never stayed at any of the hotels listed, so can't vouch for their quality or comfort!  If you need any help with bookings please let me know.  I'll ask local friends to recommend other places, and some may even have a spare room they would be willing to offer.
