            It's a 46 and much slimmer in the midsection than an IH XL, @nizzel55

            The fabric is amazing and hairy. I think the button thread is cotton as its already picking up some of the indigo.

              Definitely 100% cotton construction. Metal or plastic buttons? Look plastic in this edition.

                  ^must be the newer Lot. My FH Wabash has metal Buttons that are painted in a creamy white.

                  @nizzel55 : I have a 44 that fits perfectly (the only FH Shirt I can say that of). If you're a L-XL in IH, the 44 will be good.

                  @elclintor:

                  > I don't care what people say.. The Max Power way is the right way…

                    Yeah, I think the metal ones were only on the first generation D&D. I too have a 44 and wear L in IH and it's great aside from the tapered trunk, which is OK but less roomy than I'd prefer on a work shirt.

                    They make a fuller cut though.

                    Think it, be it.

                      Enjoy ya addiction!

                        Does anyone have an opinion one way or another regarding TFH's constructional quality compared to IH? From what I've seen and read so far, it seems pretty comparable. So as to which one people like more, appears to be a point of fit, weight, and extremely particular things.

                          The brands are completely different in their goals. Many of flat heads jeans use all cotton stitching, meaning in a way it's supposed to deteriorate.

                          I really like the look, but there are definitely more jeans out there that are "more durable."  But more beautiful? I think you'd be hard pressed to find some examples…

                              TFH tends to use more selvedge fabrics in their shirting,  or at least uses selvedge in applications where IH hasn't such as heavy flannels. They have a much wider range and aren't as focused on durable cycle ready goods as IH is.

                                I still wholesale Flat Head to some retailers.  So I think I can be fairly objective.

                                Both brands are amazingly constructed
                                The fits of the tops are very different and suit different body types
                                TFH is more concerned with historical accuracy than IH
                                The Flat Head range is VAST

                                From my point of view
                                Haraki is infinitely easier to deal with
                                TFH are extraordinarily Japanese (process orientated) in the way they do things
                                It is just much easier to work with Iron Heart

                                  What do you mean by process oriented?  Like set in their ways?

                                  Quality wise you're definitely going to be happy with both, but like I said they really do have different objectives.  For instance, you're probably not going to see IH do jacquard t shirts anytime soon, since that's simply not what the brands about.

                                    There is a way of doing things and that is the way it has to be done.  There is no scope or room for personal initiative.  To a great extent, that is a very Japanese thing.

                                    G  I need this done like this
                                    TFH But that is not how we do it
                                    G But it would be better and we would sell more if we did it like this
                                    TFH But that is not the way we do it
                                    G But don't you understand what I am saying?
                                    TFH Yes, but that is not how we do it

                                      So, to summarise from Giles' perspective:

                                      IH=pragmatic
                                      TFH=dogmatic
