Shirts with chainstitch run off rules! 🙂 Especially ones with really cool thread color. I find that they provide additional ruggedness to the shirt and for the ones in the know a level of elite branding without a name marketed for the general population.

im a fan.  when i was a kid growing up skateboarding i always liked christian hosoi not only because he shredded but because he has style.  he used to always have bandanas hanging out of his pocket and when he skated it would flow behind him….thats sorta what i like about the chainstitch run off,  it just makes the shirt look alive when youre wearing it.

I just wear them until they fall of on they're own. It is just part of the design aesthetic and personal preference to keep it or cut it. Funny actually, I went to help my mom out with something last week and was wearing my IHSH-13 and she walked by with scissors

I have no idea what Till just said, but I think the chain stitch run offs look like bike handle tassels for your ass

Just reading this thread… Hahaa! That e shishits funny.

Funny thing is, I had to search this topic because I'm starting to think they look a a bit untidy, and want to burn them off. Also people keep saying you have threads hanging off a nice shirt mate.

I like em. I knot em and leave em. But I definitely hear where you're coming from too!

              Think it, be it.

I've taken it off 1/2 of mine, and left it on the other 1/2. If they stand out or get in the way they come off. There's no functional reason for them…

I think on the flannies they look cool. But the one colour dressier shirts I think it makes them look a little unclean or less smart on that bottom edge.

Surely the feature of a chain stitch run off on a shirt like the IHSH-102 is the same as a selvedge seam on a quality pair of jeans. It's presence alludes to; the level of quality and skill as well as the specialist machinery  involved in realising the product.

I think it is a cool detail, but I usually cut it off.

@thewickett I am usually so ocd around loose cotton threads that I even amaze myself by not only leaving them but loving the fact that they just hang out !!!

I always cut them off, they remind me of scruffy rats tails.

I only became an IH customer in 2015, and after those two years I'm still cutting off the chainstitch runoff on all my tops, all seven of them so far.
I guess I mostly do it because it would look odd around my community and I would need to answer questions about those 'dangling threads'. However, as I get more familiarized with the intricacies and quality of the IH builds, I feel I'm slowly getting closer to the point where an eventual next shirt will keep its runoff.

                              The journey is the objective.

Same.  Just cut some off a newly purchase shirt yesterday, in fact.  My dislike of them overcomes even my powerful laziness.
