@Friday do you still have the IWC? Would love to see some more porn of that if so, still leaning that way over here 🙂

(and thoughts vs the GS. Very hard to go past the GS, looks great as beater!)

i don't have the IWC @Snowy the only pilots I own is a Azimuth Nav. B Uhr and Laco WUS special edit. Grand Seiko is definitely a great watch inside and outside. Low profile but rich with history passion and love like most Japanese creations.

I own PAMs but haven't wear them for a long time due to the size. hehehe Anyway should I go with an IWC it'll be the utc or the galapagos. Hope you'll get your IWC soon enough buddy…

@Friday if you want an IWC Pilot's Watch then hunt down an original Mark XI, and send it off to them for a full refurbishment. It'll probably cost a little more than a Mark XVII, and might not be quite as durable, but will be far cooler. The only problem is that they have a 35 mm case.

I like the look of the shogun, how did it wear on your wrist? Do you have a shot of it on your wrist?

@Chiba J. found this, nice wristshot in there man. some change the hand on the shogun, looks good too 🙂

Hey D, thanks for the kind reply! Looks like that particular Seiko vintage 6105 is quite a rare piece, hence the price. The 6105 can be had in better condition, and for far less dough, but mostly through Philippine refurbishers on Ebay. Not sure I want to go that route, need more research. The 3rd gen diver is also much less dough than the 2nd gen 6105 (but not quite as attractive IMO).

The Shogun is great. It felt good on my wrist, but not as good as the Black Bay. I know that some people swap out the hands on it, but I actually really like the original monster hands.

                Nice @Giles

If you ever fancy a change, www.toshi-straps.co.uk should be your first port of call.  Brilliant choice and value when it comes to anything 22mm or over in terms of lug width (they can look a bit odd any narrower, imo).  The quality is top notch.

If you like the 6105 and also the seiko shogun, you should look at Dagaz Typhoons.  Best of both worlds.  A homage to the 6105 with the 6r seiko movement that is in the shogun.  Build quality is great, and if you can get your hands on either XW/Dagaz tsunamis/bonefrogs; homage to the 6309 seiko diver or the newer Dagaz Typhoon/6105 homage diver you won't be disappointed.

Thanks! I had seen the name around, but hadn't looked into it. They look great. And, you're right, maybe the best of both worlds. It's great to see someone remaking the 6105. Seiko seems uninterested in any sort of "heritage" line.

I haven't done much research yet, but it looks like they are advertised as Made in Japan? Wonder if there are retailers in Japan?

I have several of his tsunami's and typhoons.  great watches.  was heavily into vintage seikos but having nice examples and hard wear are not a good combination.  followed this company since its beginnings.  both canadians that started it.  noah the original owner passed after the tsunami came to be.  Jake his friend/partner took over and continued on.  Great guy to deal with.  He is based out of hong kong and sells most watches directly.  he is still the sole builder of all his watches.  his webstore is 10watches.  you can choose dial options for the typhoon.  the great thing in comparison with the original 6105 is instant wear and abuse.  waterproof so to speak. screw down crown.  hacking and hand winding movement.  so really a step up from a vintage 6105 unless you want customization done which quickly adds up.

Equus Leather do some very tasty looking watch straps. I haven't seen them in the flesh, but their belts are fantastic.

This one is in a brown Bakers of Colyton bridle leather, the same tannery that Tender uses. They offer natural (russet) in their belts, and I'm sure that they'd make a strap out of it if you asked.

Not a stellar watch, but the watch that was my wedding present 10 years ago. I had always hated the stock strap, so I put a Jurghans aviator on it and I think it looks 100% better.

I can see why it doesn't get worn often, given some of the other fantastic watches you own, but that's not a bad watch.  Those Hamilton Khakis used to be a hell of a deal 5-7 years ago, and of course, the wedding connection adds an extra dimension to the while thing.

New strap is a quality choice.  Good call.
