They look great. But it looks like he's only doing titanium typhoons right now. Think for TI I'd be better off with shogun and its Diashied treated TI

        Who makes the strap G?

He's a member here.  I have asked him to respond if he wants to….He is no longer in the strap making business, he had this one in "stock".

i don't have the IWC @Snowy the only pilots I own is a Azimuth Nav. B Uhr and Laco WUS special edit. Grand Seiko is definitely a great watch inside and outside. Low profile but rich with history passion and love like most Japanese creations.

Apologies for that. I even looked back many pages here and could have sworn I saw you wearing one. #mybad.

Equus Leather do some very tasty looking watch straps. I haven't seen them in the flesh, but their belts are fantastic.

This one is in a brown Bakers of Colyton bridle leather, the same tannery that Tender uses. They offer natural (russet) in their belts, and I'm sure that they'd make a strap out of it if you asked.

Not a stellar watch, but the watch that was my wedding present 10 years ago. I had always hated the stock strap, so I put a Jurghans aviator on it and I think it looks 100% better.

I can see why it doesn't get worn often, given some of the other fantastic watches you own, but that's not a bad watch.  Those Hamilton Khakis used to be a hell of a deal 5-7 years ago, and of course, the wedding connection adds an extra dimension to the while thing.

New strap is a quality choice.  Good call.

I like Hamilton a lot @Anesthetist and have been toying around with the idea of buying one of their pilot watches myself.

I agree Davito!  But then again am biased, I have one of the early Mk I dial 1655s with the straight seconds hand.  Definitely a watch with character, it's not for everyone but I kind of love that about it.

After a few more trips to my local Seiko dealer, I've managed to switch my allegiance from the Shogun to the Tuna Can. At first I didn't like the tuna, but after trying it on I was very impressed. Really comfortable and a big but never too big presence on the wrist. Thoughts on the SBBN017? To me it seems like a watch that comes close to defining what a "tool" watch should be.

^^ Do you mean the "sumo"? Or, in its blue rendition, the "blumo". I quite like the sumo series and especially the blumo but can't get past the font on the bezel. Makes it look more like a roulette table than a watch.

The other Seiko that has really stolen my attention away from the Shogun is the MM300. It's great, but a little taller than I'd like. Perhaps I'd get used to that over time?

Tuba can looks great. @Chiba J. Def worth considering it. What do you think about its height? Would you prefer a Quartz movement over automatic?

Hey Davito! I haven't found the tuna too be too tall, but it's definitely not a thin dress watch. Case measures 14.7mm tall. I don't know how tall the MM300 is, but the tuna definitely feels a lot shorter. I really like the short, hidden lugs on the tuna, very comfortable.

I was initially looking only at automatics. But the quartz movement in the tuna is changing my mind.

Ive owned two Tunas through the years and regret selling them both. It is a great casual watch that can still be dressed up. I didnt like the stock band, but a switch out is so easy with the perforated lugs. Honestly, I would buy one again except that they almost doubled in price over the last few years.

I think that's the one Chiba. There's also a more expensive titanium version with a black face (and different font) - SBDC007.
