Bob Dylan is a fucking terrible singer and a fucking terrible harmonica player. It's amazing to me that a guy who can write songs like that can piss me off so much singing them.

Everyone does better versions of Bob Dylan songs than Bob Dylan, even the Red hot Chili Peppers.

As regards fit and cut, I believe that comfort will out.

There appears to be a current fashion of enduring hip bruising and nut compression to achieve a certain fit and appearance. This seems especially prevalent among the Denim Head crowd, i.e., the most knowledgable pursuers of the denim hobby. (I am an old dude, but a stark novice when it comes to denim.)

Fit is a highly personal thing. I enjoy the "fit pics" and the short stories about people acquiring new, high-quality pieces of clothing and making them their own. The "evo" that I admire most results from a person buying jeans and shirts that actually fit them, and then wearing the crap out of them. I call that "honest wear".

What I like a bit less is seeing a person who measures a 34 who shoehorns himself into a 32 or even 31 and then does weeks or months of penance, only to achieve what I call "stretched wear". Just one symptom of this look is a "wear result" in which the button placket has become pulled open, or even apart, with the buttons visible and/or still straining under pressure.

Again, fit is a highly personal thing. For those who buy small and make it fit, imagine a world in which you can come home from work and actually want to keep your jeans on (insert punchline here). I'm not encouraging the purchase of Dad Jeans, as those are an eyesore too, just something with room for normal human anatomy. It's a pretty wonderful world . . .

^in addition to that - I hate when Webstores  (obviously not IHUK) make their models wear too small gear. For instance, I am exact the same height and weight as the blonde guy at rivet and hide and would size up two in every pair of Jeans and at least one in his tops. Same for cultizm and other stores.

I know that often sized down clothes are supposed to look better and thus help sell them (especially when wearing raw unshrunken denim). But as a sizing advice it is just wrong, sometimes you can see that those models can't move in their clothes.

I can't stand clothes which restrict me movement or that I actually "feel" when I wear them. Even in my heaviest jeans I simply forget that I am wearing them, as the leave me some room. I get and got negative comments about my clothes being to wide / loose on the Internet…but I enjoy wearing them. Too tight fits move to the bottom of the closet very quickly.

I agree 100%. I also hate when the different fits all look the exact-fecking-same-skinny-jegging fit.

That's why I get annoyed when someone asks "I'm a 34 in IH-666S, should I get 33 in IH-634S for the same fit".

AAAAARRRRHHHHHGGGGGG.  They were lovingly and painstakingly designed over months to be different cuts.

That's key, one's own enjoyment. (After all, I'm not cruising, I'm living.) With men's suiting, on the other hand, I get it that close fit is the goal, and a well-fitting suit will not feel like a bathrobe when properly fitted and worn.

Methinks we're at the bottom of a fashion cycle on the must-be-skin-tight look. At some point the jeggings are going to look as dated as the Duran Duran cinched baggies of the '80s.

Giles' post makes me realise that I managed to annoy him with my last PM a while ago. So sorry. Won't do it again.

And as far as fits are concerned, each to his own. My coming of (denim) age was at a time when jeans couldn't be tight enough, you had to perform all manner of contortions to get them buttoned, and if you wore one size larger, you weren't cool. "Fashion" has since changed to baggy and extremely baggy to slim again and back, I keep wearing my jeans seriously tight, as for me the pleasure of wearing good denim is more in the feel than in the look, and have received my portion of flak for it. Nothing that can be done about that, and how boring it would all be if we looked all the same…..

Keep your jeans on–-and let nothing come in between you and the denim !
