      the course was run through the " field study council" and is a traditional hedge laying in the "southern style"  ,styles vary from region to region iy was run at epping forest which lucky enough is where i live ,it was a two day course .
      im not sure how many they run each year only one or two i think and all hedge laying is done between now and march , it was really interesting ,i am going on a "rustic chair and bench course" making chairs and two seaters from green wordwork ,and at the end of the course you have a chair

                                  I scraped the ice off the car this morning and popped down to the beach to act as shore support for some friends.  I did not swim as I'm not feeling 100% and have to fly to Bangkok in the morning…....

                                            Wikipedia;

                                            A water temperature of 10 °C (50 °F) can lead to death in as little as one hour, and water temperatures near freezing can cause death in as little as 15 minutes.[33] A notable example of this occurred during the sinking of the Titanic, when most people who entered the −2 °C (28 °F) water died within 15–30 minutes.[34]

                                            The actual cause of death in cold water is usually the bodily reactions to heat loss and to freezing water, rather than hypothermia (loss of core temperature) itself. For example, plunged into freezing seas, around 20% of victims die within 2 minutes from cold shock, (uncontrolled rapid breathing, and gasping, causing water inhalation, massive increase in blood pressure and cardiac strain leading to cardiac arrest, and panic); another 50% die within 15–30 minutes from cold incapacitation (inability to use or control limbs and hands for swimming or gripping, as the body "protectively" shuts down the peripheral muscles of the limbs to protect its core),[35] and exhaustion and unconsciousness cause drowning, claiming the rest within a similar time.[33]
