Viberg

Red Wings' country of origin can be USA (near me in Red Wing, MN) or it can be China. I've seen Red Wings and some of the PNW bootmakers sold at outrageous prices on Rakuten in Japan. International trade is complex is all I'm saying, and trade within trade blocs (e.g., made-in-Canada footwear being sold in the US) is going to be cheaper generally than trade across them.
-
Still, no excuse for Mr Porter.
-
Very simple don't like the price; don't buy it.
-
Really not the issue though is it? The issue is the same retailer charging different prices based on geographical location, nothing to do with Viberg the company.
-
Once again you don't like it don't buy it.
-
I don't and I won't, but I will point out that it is wrong.
-
A better example would have been Red Wings, I'm not sure of any Wesco dealers in Europe offering standard stock builds as per the Wesco stock boots page.
We will do soon…..

For me, it's the disparity on the markup. I checked a couple of different models of boots- Red Wing, Viberg, Church's and John Lobb- and the disparity between the US and the UK price was anywhere from <2% to over 30%. Regardless of the intricacies of international retail, that's a lot of inconsistent pricing. For their own sake, Mr. Porter should flatten out those spikes or do a better job of explaining them. Otherwise, they risk pissing off customers and/or losing potential ones.
-
Has anyone asked the Mr.Porter people about their scale & why the differences in the prices? I got 2 say alot of text is being put up in this thread that has nothing 2 do with Viberg.
Like one of my favorite Germans said:
@van:
…. I HATE this thread ... hated (this discussion) from the beginning and ignored it most time. All just blablabla ....

if i wasn't clear before,
nothing to do with Viberg the company
just to get one image in
-
It may well have something to do with Viberg the company, as they manufacture in the same trade bloc as the US.
Well, y'all seem to be determined to be pissed off about it without investigating the goings-on, so I give up.
Here am I today, drinking Hibiki.
-
I am a Canuck. All my boots are made by either Alden, Red Wing or Wesco. No Viberg (yet), shame on me….....

I don't see any problem with polite, related discussion, and I'm a guy who likes pictures. I read comic books

Thanks @Finn666 - very helpful - I understand how life priorities can interfere with tending to the IH forum… this was much-appreciated.
I was/am really interested in the 1035 lasted reverse kudu service boots on Viberg.com but it is a big chunk of money, and I have so many pairs of boots.
But seeing that last on your shoes makes me think about waiting to pick up a pair of those… I have nothing like that
