All Things Mac/ Apple

The thing is they will maintain profitability for a long time and won't feel the sting of not putting the product first until it's too late. I saw the warning signs shortly after Jobs passed. Certain things are getting out the gate. I'm not saying that bad things didn't happen in the Jobs eras, but I cannot accept that Apple would release, for example, Safari on iOS 8 that cannot upload a file (functionality we've had in browsers since the 1990s), or a phone that can bend simply by being in your front pocket while you're seated, or a major release with almost no innovation and rife with "me too" functionality.
Apple used to operate as though they were in a silo, now they are clearly motivated by their competitors. I think I've said here before that that's not a game Apple can win, as a vertically-integrated business–Samsung can get into feature wars, Apple will have longer design and production cycles and need to differentiate on a seamless user experience, not a feature arms race.

For sure… also, is it just me, or what the fuck is up with these leaks too? Back in the day apple was actually fucking secretive. The iPhone 4 scandal was huge and I believe they tried to sue whoever got ahold of it... now everybody and their fucking mother apparently has a perfectly working copy? Some videos straight up guessed almost every feature of the new phones and also mentioned the iWatch. How has apple let it slip that bad? Personally, I really don't care that more information is out, but I don't like that it's something that's drastically changed about Apple since jobs, and this change has already led to changes in philosophy and the product line. And not for the better.

Ben, I'd get a 6 over a 5s, for Apple Pay. As long as the 6 fit in my front jean pockets, not looked at/tried as my 5s still has a year left on it. I think Apple Pay will slowly take off over the next 2 years…..
Bendgate is really interesting, no comments on it either way. PR nightmare for Apple for sure!
-
Whoa… just looked up bend gate. Wonder what apple will do. You're right about NFC, I didn't really think of that... the only thing i don't like about the 6 is that its really close to feeling like a big android phone that's unwieldy.
I thought the same thing about the 5 when it came out, but after using it I totally saw it was better. Definitely did not get the same feeling with the 6, ill have to play with it more...

i do admit that none of the new tech from apple has been fantastic in it's recent years. very stale thus far to be honest. but i do have to admit as well that being a huge apple fanboy i simply cannot resist getting their stuff. though i have to mention as much as they look like an android whatsoever, their software are clearly a step up from android.
the 6s is huge. and funnily enough few years ago i saw my friend's note 2 and i was like i'm not getting a phone that huge. but fast forward to 2014, i'm here with a 6 plus. what sold me on it was the dual view in landscape and it's optical image stabilization on it's camera
-
This bending problem is all my fears come true. Phones are getting too large, and too thin to even carry in our pockets? No thanks. I'm due for an upgrade when I move back to the US, and I loved my iPhone 4, but I'm not sure I want the 6. Maybe I'll be able to get a deal on a 5…
-
The Note 3 held up quite well to a similar bend test. You can't extrude aluminum to soda-can thinness on a large device and expect it have sufficient torsional strength. This is something that should have been obvious before a prototype was even made. Nothing more than simple physics and materials science, Apple has to know these disciplines and to apply them, no matter what Jony Ive wants.
I had hoped the Liquid Metal license would produce something cool but to date there is nothing.
This is (or should be) a very expensive recall.

@grandmasterben I have a 6 and its awesome great size, beautiful screen. Don't listen to the haters. My wife has a Galaxy S4 and you can't compare nice screen and camera but, IMO android sucks it's like comparing Mac OS to windows. Apple products just work period!
ps @Urbanwoodsman has a 6+ and loves it
-
Tech and OS aside, I just don;t think the 6 and 6+ are as pretty as the 5 or 4. The 4S is still the best looking iPhone imo.

Troof. The stainless band was really pretty and the structural integrity in terms of anything but dropping the damn thing was pretty damn solid.
-
I'm just glad people will stop making sarcastic comments like, "why didn't you just get a tablet?" when they see my Note 2. Now that Apple makes a phone with a 5.5" screen, it will just blend right in.

Opinions are like assholes everybody has one
-
I think the 5s looks best… 4 is a tad choady

^ I have no idea what that word means

Apple is dead. They should be embarrassed about the unending quality issues and how so many of them are rooted in design.

When John Gruber, who mocked people who sit on phones in their back pockets (I do this all day every day with my 6" display phone and it isn't bent–Apple has to adapt to the realities of humans and their uses, not the other way around--none of this "you're holding it wrong" BS) has to admit it's "embarrassing" you know it's bad.
-
^this is just silly. Apple is not dead they have the best looking devices the safest, easiest and most reliable OS and seamless integration between their devices.
Android is clunky and cumbersome. This thread is now starting to fucking piss me off.
-
Seamless integration, yes. Definitely Apples strength.
But Android != Android. When one buys a Samsung device this person should expect a ton of bloatware. Try a phone with stock Android the next time, you will be impressed by how smooth it runs.
Looks are subjective, but imho the Nexus 5 is the sleekest smartphone device I have ever owned. Minimalistic with quality plastics (not sure those 2 words go together well).

D, i totally agree with you about software and looks… honestly, the reason why I'm bitching and unhappy is because i rely on apple so much for a cell phone. If i decide that i don't like what apple does anymore (big screens etc) then I'm just fucked and that worries me. Every time i use an android phone I'm like wow this is shitty. It's totally possible that theres one id like but i haven't come across it yet.
For computers, i'm sure i'll only use macs... luckily, there's nothing thats as volatile in computing for the worse (subjectively), unlike in smartphones.
