Also recommend Tad Gear and Mystery Ranch (although the Mystery Ranch customer service sucks) if you're outside the usa

Yeah it really depends on what you want for a bag. Will you strictly only use it for hiking or will it slowly be an all around bag? The Tad Gear Fast pack and almost any of the Mystery Ranch bags will fulfill your hiking needs but for traveling they might end of being too bulky. The Goruck GR1 is a happy medium.

+1 for the Goruck GR1, I've used mine daily now for almost 18 months and it is comfortable, manageable and tough as nails. If I gave it a clean it would pass as brand new I reckon. Plus they are great for travelling, mine has done Tokyo, Jakarta, London and it will be coming to Barcelona with me next month, the full length opening main compartment is super useful when you're looking for something in the bottom of your bag on a flight.

Love this damn thing (Acronym 5A-TS). Just added a MOLLE Acronym "Kompression Pocket," which is ideal for sunglasses but large enough to hold a water bottle. In fact it, like the bag itself, is design to expand hugely to accommodate all kinds of stuff. Anything that I need to get to quickly goes into that. The Maxpedition bag (the one I put a velcro USA flag on) carries office supplies and electronic gadgets, including thumb drives, cords, a flashlight and CR123A batteries for it… I also have a third MOLLE bag which carries my bike stuff in it like tools, spare tube, CO2/cracker, Leatherman Wave, etc. This one uses buttoned straps to attach to the MOLLE so that I can detach it quickly and stick it in the large exterior pocket of my other, smaller Acronym bag (3A-1). There are hidden zippered pockets on each side of the bag that are good for small items like phones or keys, and then there is a detachable interior pocket that velcros in between the removable waterproof lining and the waterproof shell. The final accessory i added also velcros in between the shell and lining, right inside the back pad, and that's a padded laptop sleeve (the red thing in the picture).

                        Think it, be it.

^ I appreciate all the write ups you have done on Acronym, not my cup of tea but I've always been curious about the brands bags.

My bag update: I enjoyed using my Superior Labor bag for work but I finally ordered a leather briefcase. I decided to go with a Bexar Hudson. I've been carrying it daily since the beginning of June and I'm definitely pleased. I'm planning a full write up soon.

I like the B&R but I'll probably get a check in bag from them.

Ended up with the matte black Rimowa.

hey @urbanwoodsman could you please tell me what model that one is? still need to cop one for the trip.

@Finn666 I have the "Rimowa Salsa 22 Cabin U.S. Multiwheel" in matte black. It's slightly over the carry on limit but I've been fine so far.  http://www.altmanluggage.com/rimowa-92077275.php

I would recommend the slightly smaller version for an international carry on though.

Böle Tannery King Rucksack seen at Harrods over the weekend.

It's made of vegetable tanned deerskin, and fully hand sewn. The nameplate can be hand-carved with your initials by a 93 year old Saami. And it gets its name from the first model was given to the King of Sweden…

I'm in love, but there's just the slight issue of €7500 price tag.

Scott and Kelly of Dawson Denim visited Böle a few weeks ago, and have a post on their blog about their experience.

The price has gone up substantially in the last couple of years too, particularly for the smaller Crown Prince rucksack.

I'd love one, but I don't think that I could justify it.
