How about a 1 7/8 inch belt (the width of the dark brown one) in the colour and with the buckle of the 1 5/8 inch (the lighter brown) one?  In fact any 1 7/8 inch belt - they are so hard to find!

Edit: almost forgot, actually IH does hsve a belt that is extremely close to 1 7/8" that you might be interested in, just a bit pricy but absolutely beautiful…

IMO the 25oz jeans should have a small piece of fabric (like the pocket lining) hidden inside of the waistband by the button hole. It would act as an additional reinforcement that would hold the button hole stitching in place.
