Besides the logic that everyone else has brought to the table for keeping your spares unworn–I think the main reason to hold off on wearing your extra pairs of favorite jeans would be to prolong the amount of time you get to wear that perfection.  Once you wear the first pair into the ground, if you find yourself still loving the denim and the cut (and fitting into the same size!) you'll be able to enjoy the whole process all over again!

Well, we're all striving for the same thing:the perfect pair of jeans. So if you find them imagine your disappointment to know you haven't got a spare pair! The chances are that if you find the perfect pair, you won't need to wear the spare for a long time because you won't be able to take the 1st pair off.

When I collected LVC, and before that, US made 501 shrink-to-fits, I was W36 in STF which had a bit of room but I could fit W34. So to allow for putting on weight and taking it off, I always bought W34, W35, W36 and W38. I've even got a few pairs of W40 for wearing over the top when its cold, and some W31 and W32 when I took up sport! L38 (which I preferred as, L36 could come up a bit short, became hard to find except in W38….but of course, you need to have 6 pairs of each size in each vintage!

And then, of course, there were the discounts American Classics gave me and the carte blanche one afternoon to rummage in the storeroom at Cinch! Hey ho - suddenly you have a collection!

Battled with my 25 oz, won the war!

Wasn't baiting, just expressing my truth in a 1 liner. I've seen you call out how much it annoys you a few times, but didn't think you were aware I was one of them. I'm sure it doesn't change your view either, I don't expect it to. Intent of flagging it @Megatron1505 was to help show some diversity of personalities that can share the trait. It's not just 1 type of person who collects, nor is the motivation always the same. I've felt you've always had a black and white stance on it (and so be it), but wanted to show there is some grey. #nobaitonlymeat

Interesting to see various points of view on this, as I'm likely one of those shades of grey. As without functionality, I wouldn't pick something up, yet I always collect enough to have options. Numerous like pairs wouldn't be my thing, but I''ll collect across the weight spectrum to serve whatever need may arise. This is true of nearly everything I buy, and if it no longer works within that frame I'm quick to rid myself of the excess. Some would still see the volume of what I own and think it too much, after all who NEEDS 10 pocket knives? But to me, they all have real application depending on what is needed.

Wish I'd bought spare pairs of the 705, find I like them so much that I don't wear them as often as I'd like as I know I can't get any more, oh well, at least I've got two pairs to be going on with!  😉

                                  I have not decided 😉

It seems like the majority of posters recommend setting the doubles aside. There have been some great points made for sure. I can see the argument, but I can't really see myself selling the jeans. To clarify, two of the styles are work jeans. Dirty smelly work jeans. The plan is to beat them into submission for 6 months, and then wear them as casual non work jeans after they are properly broken in.

In the past I would simply buy stupid cheap jeans for work, 5 at a time and rotate them until they were trash. Wrangler, Lee, Old Navy, whatever was on sale. They would be amazingly broken in and perfectly trashed, but I would never want to wear them out, or after work. My thought is to break in some nice raw denim at work and once they reach the sweet spot, pull them from work rotation and wear them casually.

I have not worn any of my spares yet, but I think I might soon.
