Grand Reserva > Reserva. The 2nd aging in calvados barrels really takes the edge of the aggressive taste of the French oak. Nonetheless, this is stellar!..

Pannepot in all its variances = the best dark ale Belgium has to offer… I've yet to try the Real ale though: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/struise-pannepot-real-ale/265792/

The beer is gone. I enjoyed them all. If I have to pick a favourite of them I would pick "hole hearted" . Really really nice. Thanks again.

Yeah the Tap X is fucking amazing. I've been thinking of buying 3 or 4 to cellar… Especially since this will not be made again...  😞

I made my first RateBeer review. Am I now officially a beernerd?..

Vintage 2009. Bottle from Geers. Dark, almost black, with a beautiful red shine to it when held in the light. Quickly disappearing tan head. I had the Reserva the day after this, and I must say the second aging on calvados barrels does wonders for this Grand Reserva: the acidity of the French oak is much more balanced and less prominent on the tongue. Velvet like smoothness, I only had a real hint of booze (calvados) on the last sip. Hiding its alohol % very well. My favourite Belgian beer?.. My favourite Belgian beer.

Seul, that first photo is superb. I like the contrast between the dark brew and the label on the bottle and the glow of the light from the window reflecting off of the table.

That was completely co-incidental. As far as I'm concerned there should only be one button on a cammy and it should read "PUSH FOR WITCHCRAFT"…

Haha, perhaps it was the power of the black hole. Either way that photo (and perhaps the others of the stocked fridge) convinced me that brews are in order later this evening 🙂
