Did you take some pics of the new shop? Just BTW haha
-
No. But its awesome. Very light and roomy.
-
I just tighten the shit out of mine. I haven't taken them to the trail and will need more tension in the lacing then.
-
Exactly my feeling. But this should be easy to deal with, I might try Red Wing laces or just look for red laces by Manufacturers like Meindl or Hanwag. These should do the trick.
As nobody posted pictures with the leather laces yet:
I never owned leather laces before - can I expect them to last? I wouldn't want them to rip in the mountains, and that's where these boots will be going.
-
For what it's worth, which isn't much, I use leather laces everywhere I can and rarely see problems. They will stretch over their lifetime, and eventually will break. However I have a pair that have been in use for a decade, that I treat like any other leather. To me, they don't seem to bite your foot like nylon or cotton. I wouldn't suggest pulling on them with great force, but to get around and hike in, I would still prefer the leather.
-
Thanks for the reply. As the red ones were a bit stretchy, I think I'll try leather. They shouldn't crack too soon and I have tons of different leather conditioner. But on these boots, I need to pull with great force, so I just ordered the Meindl Superperfekt red laces on top. This should be enough for decades.
-
When I say great force, I mean GREAT force. I keep mine tight, and they handle flex well without over stretching. Maybe try them around town before your trip, if they survive the daily, then I wouldn't hesitate to take them hunting, hiking, or anything else one might do in that boot.

^G is correct to not use leather laces on your hikers. Max like yourself I am a big time hiker and leather laces will fail on you when you least expect it.
-
Ok, thanks again for the feedback. I see, I was right to order Meindl laces.
-
Today. They're getting comfy.
-
Great news how many wears?
-
It was their first wear for more than just a few minutes around the house. (As I said, I need them broken in in six weeks). We were out 5-6 hours and they softened up noticeable. Just the outer toes had some pressure, but no blatter or the like. I ordered Red Wing leather laces and ripped them at the second wear. Now I use the Meindl laces - a bit less flexible and really great built. I'll stick with those.
-
Agree with the others I wouldn't use leather ones personally. Had a few fail on me in the past! Plus I really like the contrast between the red and brown

Hey Guys,
quick but huge update from my hiking trip. The Vibergs are doing a perfect job - they fit perfect now and are by far the best hiking shoes I ever had in all possible ways.
I'm really surprised that I'm still able to do the big tours and my girlfriend as well. Bad thing: I want to move back to the alps so bad, it breaks my heart.
See you again soon!
