Love me some Lego's non photos today but jake and I went to Harmon's picked up some Doc Bronners, then went to toys r us bought some Lego's, then went to Buffalo Wild Wings, then saw The Wind Rises (new Hayao Miyazaki film), then I went skiing.

Took an impromptu trip down to the beach last night/early this morning…

The town on the shore is all but dead this time of year.  In the summer this little spot would be packed with cars and people trying to get to the beach…

With all the wind and cold the lake, Lake Michigan in this case, freezes over and forms what appear to be frozen ice waves…

Heading home…

A lone beach chair.  The last remnant of summer time on the beach…

One of the many developments that dot the shore line in South Haven…

and a shot we managed to get before the sun rose.  The yellow haze on the left side of the picture is light pollution from Chicago on the opposite shore of the lake…

Winter or summer I'm always astounded by the beauty and power of the great lakes.  Now to see if I can't get up to the ice caves on Lake Superior sometime in the next few weeks…

That's crazy how you can see chicago's light pollution

That is why you can not see the milkyway in most parts of the USA. When I was little I could see the milkyway there was not so much light pollution in those days.

One more reason to be in the mountains. Last time I did alpine camping at about 12,000 feet the Milky Way was clearly visible, as was my sign (Scorpius).

Nice pics.  4 out of the 5 Great Lakes are over 90% frozen. Interesting time to go ice fishing.
