I went with the advice to size down and bought S for my 38-39" chest size. I can wear it over a t-shirt (loose fit) or tee plus IHTL-1213 Thermal Waffle Henley for a more snug fit.

For those who are not sure about their size in this, remember the arm opening does not actually come up close under your armpit - it is a couple of inches below mine.

The cotton duck back suits it very well and is extremely supple. The denim front and sides feel thicker and are stiffer than the back, but the 12 oz denim feels like the right choice for this type of vest/waistcoat - not too stiff, but still rugged enough.

To attempt to shrink it a little, I washed it inside out on a 40 degree Celsius (104°F) cottons cycle with Persil colour powder (for those who care about these kinds of details). Then I put it on a hanger on a radiator. It dried very quickly and there were no creases or apparent colour loss; it still looked brand new.

After wearing it for several hours over a sweatshirt I measured it and realised my attempt to shrink it had failed, or it had stretched back out with wear.

I typically wear a large in IH Shirts and Jackets and a 42 in FH, what size should I go for on this?

Actually, I was lookingat XL duck measurements and it says the front is 27….  The wabash says 25.5.. Is the front length that different from vest to vest?  I think I would prefer the longer front measurement.

@Giles I'm doing some research as I'm planning to buy this or the double indigo. I've measured the two vests I own the IH way and most measurements are similar to the L in the IHV-02-IND, with the exception of the chest which is similar to the XL. My question is this, have you ever re-measured your IH vests after wear? I guess there must be some stretch horizontally across the back and chest?

There could be, but I have not measured it…........There will likely be more stretch in the wabash than the duck.....

Vest fans!  I need help. Either the IHV02IND or the incoming IHV02DD is going to be my first IH vest (fekk it, I may get both). Pictured here is my best fitting vest from another brand. I've measured it the IH way and I get a P2P of 54,2cm, a shoulder of 37.6 and an arm opening 27.5. These measurements put the vest around or inbetween L and XL in the IHV02IND (the IH vest will be shorter than this in front and back which is a good thing).

I'm wearing an IH medium tee in the pic (my normal size in IH tees because I like them snug) and I take an XL in most IH shirts.

Based on this info should I take an L or an XL? Any and all help/advice appreciated!

It's misguided to make 'fixed sizes beforehand - too inaccurate
