I mean the original theatrical release only.  Every re-edit afterwards is shit.

And executive producing just means writing a fat check.  No creative input given or recognition deserved.

That's completely false, Lucas wrote The Adventures of Indiana Smith which ultimately was adapted into the film. And even if it were true, bankrolling something great and assuming that risk is very important.

This fucked my enjoyment of Raiders to a degree. I can't watch it without thinking of this and picking apart the movie.

Agreed. I was just about to post this.

Does that even matter? I guess I have a postmodern view on such. They didn't KNOW that the Nazis wouldn't be able to leverage this powerful relic. It's all about the journey. It's not even a plot hole.

Raiders is a great movie because it's fun, and you mother fuckers are doing a bang up job of sucking the fun out of it. Everything does not have to be thought about to the nth degree  😠

Plot holes discovered by "oh so smart" sit coms and postmodern views, give me a break  😞

I am still a fan of the movie, it's simply stating that I now have a hard time just simply enjoying it.

I realise this, but sometimes the depth of poring over the exquisite minutia of every last thing really sucks away at the most important thing…..how it makes you feel.

That movie is and will always be a huge chunk of formative memories. Matters little how much satisfaction I get out of finer points, and besides that I like some things for how absurd they can be. My current position is little different from times I have burned out watching it too much, it will pass with time.

Yeah, I pretty much was Indiana Jones. He replaced my Cowboy Bob persona. I had a whip, a leather(ette) jacket, a fedora… Still, very fashionable to hate on Lucas, but Star Wars, warts and all, and the other biggest franchise of the era don't happen without him, period. My disdain for Lucas is based on not leaving well enough alone. I still esteem his "well enough."

I more view the Big Bang/Raiders thing as a funny anecdote to tell at a gathering of friends busting each other's balls, rather than ComicCon. It's just a clever observation that makes you look at the film from a different angle.

The whole Greedo/Lucas debate is moot for me too. I just like Star Wars 4,5,and 6 so much that it doesn't matter which details Lucas tweaks.

I'm having a hard time imagining all of these old actors like Hammil, Ford, and Fisher in their old roles in Star Wars. Still looking forward to them though.

For it's time, it was groundbreaking and compared the sheeeeite that gets rammed into kids senses these days, Star Wars was the breaking bad for kids of that generation and any of you that can now critically string a sentence together to pull it apart…....are tools and I bet most of you had a figure or two! (the slightly older generation excused).

And that is precisely Paula's argument.  "For it's time it was remarkable".  So the fuck what?  So was the first black and white movie. does that mean I want/need to watch it.  So was the first TV, but you know what? I'd rather look at my 42" LED than a 3" CRT.  So was the first automobile, but I'd rather cover 300 miles in a day not 3 weeks…......And I can go on ad nauseum.....

But I need not, Star Wars is feckin shite - all of them.....Oh except if you're suffering from insomnia....
