but i'm also not a journalist
and it seems to me EVERY article i read online lately has major grammar or spelling errors. hell even missing words or half sentences
at what point did people say "ah fuck it"
with magazines and news papers going towards the online publication more and more i don't think "oh it's just an online publication" floats as an excuse
i cant be the only one this bothers?

Completely agree. Professional writers should know how to write. Subject/verb agreement and so forth. It bugs me, my first degree is in English.

It's sad but true. In my job I deal with the media every day, and it's very apparent the getting the story out first is considered far more important than getting the story correct or well written.

It disappoints me on multiple levels.

I also think that part of the problem is that media companies, in an effort to streamline and minimize costs, have largely eliminated proofreaders.ย  An extra set of eyes checking for the basics of spelling and grammar makes a huge difference, but is sadly considered an unnecessary expense.ย  That, combined with the rush to get content out, makes for a consistently crappy product.

I also hate the super thick front and thin arch combination sole in this otherwise beautiful boot-

Ordered a sweater from a domestic retailer who charges $16.95 for UPS Ground (read: the slowest) shipping of just the one sweater!

Complained and they offered me a one-time discount of $8.50.ย  I hate it when retailers try and make money on the shipping, just charge another few dollars for the item itself if you must!

the worst is when you read a sentence and you have to actually stop and try and figure out what word they forgot or meant to use or how the sentence was actually meant to be worded
this is the article that got me ranting this morning

                                    that line drove me nuts

the thing is out of all the publications i read. be it online or in print. i find the least amount of fuck up's in independent chopper magazine, run by guys out of there living rooms and garages
ah it's all going to shit

Did a 26 hour day yesterday. Added due to living closest to the data center, went on-site to assist with cable pulling. There's no seats in there, The phone has no headset. It's loud, cold, and pretty miserable. Woke up @ 330pm today with a killer hang-over.
