Oh no brother, I have a few others in mind. My splurge budget hits reset about this time of year. I am making a list since we have managed not to need anything major this year and the socks and IH are what have cemented their spots.

Threepence by convention is a pre-decimalisation term and refers to 3 old P.  There were 240 old pence to the £, so at todays exchange rate $1,000 is the equivalent of 146,400 old pence (roughly ;D)

And I couldn't bring myself to part with that for a rod, but others might not wrap that kind of money up in a single guitar. I think this is a solid point, and even a bit funny that the comparisons need to be made here. We all are likely to have a expensive fetish outside of clothing, and despite having this one in common, many would look across the table scratching their heads at others.

I wear my socks with boots so there's no vis… All I want is quality, something that lasts... The TFA socks deteriorated much too quickly to justify the price. So let's see how these 2.9 € Uniqlo socks hold up ey

"testing" these suckers today…first impression: really nice, holding up pretty well and feeling comfy from the start!

I got those in the opposite colourway - blue with orange stripes - and wish i had those ones too. They're standing up really well so far. On the £25 argument, I got a pair of Superior Labour socks for that much. Worn them a lot less than the Anonymous-Ism pair and they've developed holes already. I have no problem paying for quality goods, but I expect the quality to match the price.

wigwam socks have served me well.  Made in the US and under $15 a pair for even their 'fancier' cool wool ones.

Just bought a stack of Icebreaker socks that were on sale.  The merino blend is fantastic to wear and surprisingly durable too.

There is a lady out of the UK that makes some pretty cool Merino wool socks….

I guess she makes them on the really old sock machines that are hand cranked.
