There's a great thread here in General Chat called Soundtrack of my Life or something to that effect that D666 started. I haven't taken my own advice yet, but I'd love for you to share on that thread, take a look at it, it's very interesting. Also, we have a best concerts thread in General Chat as well that's a great place to share live experiences that moved you.

Completely agree with RB. I don't judge what anyone is into I know what I'll never like and sometimes it takes me a bit of time to come around to stuff. Time. Mood. Age. New day, new sounds. I think putting artists and music into genres puts a context on things that isn't always necessarily representative of what's created and what yer listening to. I guess the "filter" RB is talking about is made up a bit with what music is perceived to be because of all the labels pinned to "types" of music. Reading the tags at the foot of album reviews or Pitchfork appears to try and describe something that really you can only listen to. The less context the better. The best movies are the ones you know nothing about beforehand!

I read many of the same books over and over again, but I mainly read factual books. For some reason I really struggle with literary fiction :-\
On the great Anchorman debate, like I said before I have noted that Will Ferrel is insanely popular in Europe, whereas we don't really like or get Seth Rogan and his bunch of buddies. Comedic, cultural nuances I guess.
I like not knowing how a book , film decent telly show ends ….so unless I wait 30 years
and hope after reading the first few paragraphs again - the whole story does not comes flooding back .Try driving for 7 hours only one CD and the radio is broken . Then a few days later , drive back
again , 7 hours ....Will is funnier in shorter bursts , rather than carrying a whole film . Seth Rogen and
crew's humour I find a bir immature and certainly appeals to the cannabis set .Here's his latest offering :

You cats are too much, make me feel like the kid sitting at the adult table for the first time. I will take the advice and share some on the threads suggested. My live show experiences alone are vast. Got to see a lot of bands in South Florida between bars and festivals. It may not need said, but I really like the general level of maturity around here.

@riffblaster:
as far as i'm concerned a person's love for music is a judgement free zone. you dig what you dig, and if i don't dig it maybe you can explain to me how i should be approaching it.
Same with clothing imo. It drives me nuts when people are judgmental about someone elses preferred method of dress. ALL that matters is that you feel comfortable within your self and within your peer group. Needless to say, I have strong opinions about dress, but those are my opinions, period.

Great opinion, RB! I feel the same. there's something good to be found in almost every genre and I love to ask people why they love something that I don't dig. But I dislike it when people just swallow what the radio or TV presents to them and have no own opinion on music or art in general. If somebody reflects what he consumes and appreciates, I won't be the one to tell him his opinion is wrong.
But what I really hate: when people say "Metal (or any other genre)? Yeah, I listened to that when I was 16." As if you would have to feel ashamed for anything.

i've made a similar statement numerous times
but it's always in reference to band's i feel are "immature" and that i have outgrown on a personal level
i wont deny that i used to listen to that at some point but i'm also not gonna lie and say i still do. for me it's not a loaded statement that i used to listen to a band or a genre. it's just a fact, and i've moved on.
ie.korn, system of a down, limp bizkit, basically all that 90's nu metal that came out around the same time
but that may not be an unpopular opinionor in the case of guns and roses the radio stations and axle rose have ruined there songs for me from over play and douche baggery
