My tastes are a touch simple here. My drink of choice is bourbon and I like a variety of them. While high end is nice here, I can be just as content with a bottle of Jim Beam Black or Russell's Reserve. One of the best for the money in my opinion is Wild Turkey's Rare Breed, barrel proof with citrus tones that are amazing at any price!

Rare breed is great. I love bourbon and rye. Rittenhouse is the best rye bargain and I'm a fan of pretty much everything that the Buffalo Trace distillery does in bourbon and rye.

The downside of all this variety in mezcal and tequila south of the border is the profound lack of bourbon options.  I'm so glad that Bulleit and Woodford Reserve have made it down here, or my only options would be Jim Beam (white), and Jack Daniel's.

          I miss rye.  sigh

I'm a neat and clean guy drink wise anyhow, so white label and jack are no good. White is gritty, and Jack was my misspent youth (can't stand even the smell anymore), I will have to try some of the other recommendations if I can track them down. I have issues getting good liquor here, so often it's top of what's available.

I love Old Forrester too on the bourbon side. Noah's Mill, Bulleit.. Since you like Rare Breed, Russel's Reserve is the same stuff aged a bit longer, so that makes a lot of sense.

Obviously the Pappys and George T Stagg are favorites, but I can't find/afford those generally.

You are correct, I was thinking of something else, whose name escapes me, and RR popped in, but that Single Barrel is tasty. Outside of the majors here, anything else is next to impossible to find. I can find a million and one Cognacs in this hole, but good bourbon, or whiskey for that matter are scarce.

The Pierre Ferrand 1840 cognac is a great choice if you can find that. Modeled after 19th century cognac, though a bit stronger.

I got some rum for my boss (belated Xmas gift) and some Martin Miller's gin, which I'm drinking now before I jump into some tequila (they only had a reposado Mezcal and some gutter bottom shelf bullshit, and I prefer my mezcal unaged and not shitty).

Courvosier is under Jack Daniels, which occupies the top shelf. I am flummoxed by their shelving / organization.

Typically the way that spirits are arranged, at least in the States, is top to bottom by quality, left to right be variety. So Jack Daniels would never occupy the top shelf, and courvoisier would be on a shelf in the other cognacs.
