With impeccable timing, the boiler broke down…..Luckily we have a mini pyrotechnician in the house....

Took a trip over to Winchester yesterday to see the Cathedral and wander around town…

Saw some nice scenery on the train...

Took in the Christmas market just outside the cathedral…

One of the walls to the east of the cathedral…

and of course the cathedral itself…

The massive main hall…

and behind the choir…

their nativity…

some intricate stone work on one of the walls…

a statue that had been defaced when much of the iconography in the cathedral had also been destroyed/defaced…

There was fantastic tile work, some dating back to the 1200's…

As well as some amazing vaulted ceilings inside…

Took a stop by the Great Hall as well, the last remaining bit of Winchester Castle…

and home to King Arthur's Round Table…

After a lovely day out, made my way back to Portsmouth to hop on the ferry over to Gosport…

There is a shit load of competition (Gosport is a naval town), but the quality is on the whole poor…...So premier, in this particular case, is not a lot to shout about....
