Can't disagree with anything you said, but I do feel we are becoming a more savage people.

Even with really solid situational awareness, some little coward can get you.  Of course you help your cause, but one of the disturbing things is that sometimes there's nothing you can do.

Here's another example that happened here.  Some fucking psychopath threw a goddamn Molotov cocktail at a bicycle commuter on one of the regions many dedicated, paved bike paths from a bridge.

What the fuck can you do?  Really, nothing in that situation.  Fortunately he missed the rider, but someone tries that, or hurling a cinderblock at your car from an overpass, or taking advantage of a blind corner to wrap your head in with a wrench or a sucker punch, or any number of other possible cowardly sneak attacks…

      Think it, be it.

On one hand, I disagree with you that we are becoming more savage because I remember people killing each other in Chinatown in NYC with cleavers back in the 80s…or teenage girls getting raped in open Subway stations...or like you said, cinderblocks being tossed off overpasses when I was in grade school...

Not sure how old you are, but that shit has been happening since I was a kid

On the other hand, society as a whole has been trying to apply a band aid to problems without addressing the real issues for about 20 years now. And I can see that coming to a head at this point, so perhaps you are right

Because at the rate we're going, we're going to be trying to ban fists, cleavers, cinderblocks and penises...

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

I wish someone tried this on me, they would quickly find out what 10 years of martial arts training can do to a few punk ass high school kids throwing blindsiders, Then we'd see who the badass is real quick like. What is wrong with kids!!

I thought the same, boxing and Krav Maga for 8 years and i'm hitting the gym since 1998… I felt pretty safe. but 6 weeks ago I was on my way home trough a small street in my hometown. 10-12 dudes (about 18 to 25 years old) came around the corner and directly confronted me, non-verbal. I tried to defense against the first two guys, then next one came from the side and hits me with his knuckle-dusters. Well, game over... I've got about 20-30 kicks on the whole body.
All-in-all i was very lucky, just a few stitches in the face. I'm surprised, it's not an easy process to handle.
Well, that was very fast wabi-sabi on my A2.

There is a big difference in the strength of a 25 year old and the strength of a 18 year old. Of course almost anyone would get their ass kicked by 10 dudes at once, But if a few punk ass 17 year old high schools tried jumping me, with fists and no  weapons, I wouldn't be too worried about it. 10 dudes in their mid 20's and id be preparing for an ass whooping. Two hands against 20 is not a good situation anyway you slice it.

I said "kids" in recounting my story but there were some big ass bruisers among the group.  A fight wouldn't have ended well.  They were looking for easier meat though, someone they could intimidate and beat easily, and when it became clear I could defend myself and wasn't scared, they moved on.

The flash beatings never to my knowledge involved theft.  It was all about just beating the bejesus out of people and disappearing.

I guess Iron Heart can't use the "we're not a fashion brand" line anymore.

I am still convinced, that Haraki is not aiming at doing fashion or just making clothes that sell well. We must not forget, that Trend or fashion in the west might differ from the east. There was a time when denim got big in indonesia and many companies did heavyweight slim cuts for that market.

Now, at least in Germany, raw denim and "vintage" clothes become mainstream. Not at least because of a mag (Heritage Post), that declares "well made things" as a must for a real "(Gentle)Man". The feature boots, (japanese) denim including Flat head and Iron Heart and so on. So at least here, we see things taken to another level, after pioneers paved the road. I'm curious to see how long this trend lasts, but it feels weird to somehow look similar to guys, that just follow that trend lately.

Not sure wether this would belong in random rants, as I'm not even sure how I feel about this. Honestly, I don't care that much. Just trying to say, that raw denim and maybe chambrays, denim shirts, type IIIs, boots, stetson hats etc. are fashion right now, wether we want it not.  So, every IH item will could be considered fashion at the moment. Good to know the clothes outlast trends, in terms of quality and design and many of the guys involved doing and wearing them will stick with them.

That's an interesting point of view.  Thanks.  I was wondering why Germany was exploding sales wise.  I actually turned a really good looking retailer down yesterday as I was worried about over saturation in the north of Germany…..

I suspect 70's, but it is a question of how old something has to be (in a clothing sense) to be considered vintage. There's plenty of clothing from the 90's listed on eBay as vintage, which always makes me think gtfo!

A matter of definition and maybe influenced by your own age when judging that subjectively
