Vibergs are effectively bench made, that is a world of difference from the way Alden are made.  Does that make them any better?  In my opinion yes, but it is only an opinion.  I have a load of Alden shoes and boots, but I never wear them any longer and when I get a min, I will start selling them off

What is the difference of bench made? Is alden more like a production line?

Spring Son of Light, being an Englishman I will echo Giles's sentiment about English bench made shoes. I don't own any Alden shoes or boots, but I do own a pair of Tricker's English bench made country brogues with a commando sole. They feel totally indestructible and are the only shoes I've ever owned that a total stranger has commented on; a slightly inebriated American in a hotel elevator said to me: "Wow, those are some sexy shoes".

I've been off work for a couple of days with a stomach bug, bad stuff going on with digestion etc… nothing too serious just a 48 hour thing.

Today I feel ok, probably about 70% well, and I am meant to be commencing an all day drinking session for a mates birthday in about an hour......is this a good idea?

BTW: There will be some Caribbean food thrown in as well.

Carribean food never is a good idea. Beer always is, though… But try and drink good quality, re-fermented in the bottle and such... High alc % = good. I'm being serious btw.

Right, in the absence of great beer I was going to stick with Guinness. Using the logic that it isn't too fizzy and sits heavy in the stomach rather than causing all sorts of mayhem like cheap lager.

Although, I cannot face a pint of cheap lager at all, just the thought of it makes me want to spew.

Just to echo what Seul said, bottle-conditioned beer (or re-fermented) is loaded with vitamin B-12 complex. It's the very stuff that alcohol depletes from your body which adds to your hangover, but the bottle-conditioned beer GIVES IT BACK!

Hey guys, I just bought a pair of jeans that are about two inches loose on the waist. Bought it because it was the very last pair of the Red Cloud R400H 17oz , 25% Hemp material denim available and I just had to buy them.

Ok, now for my question. Is it advisable for me to throw them inside the washing machine to get maximum shrinkage? Or will a normal hot soak give the same amount of shrinkage? Will I lose too much indigo if I throw them into the machine and if I do that, 30 minute cycle or 60 minute cycle?

                            Thanks guys.

60' cycle, 60C°, max RPM, turn inside out. You won't lose much/ any indigo.

A wash will always give you more shrinkage than a comparable temperature soak.  Follow Seul's advice.

Does anyone know of a model fridge (standard fridge) with a temperature that goes up to 10 or even 12C°?.. Nothing like the Electrolux Ecostore though, really a standard household fridge…

Eli, that might not exist, though you could use a temperature controller like this http://www.amazon.com/RANCO-ETC-111000-Digital-Temperature-Control/dp/B0015NV5BE to maintain any temp you want. I used to use that controller for my beer fermenting fridge to maintain about 55F.
