Patti Smith quoting William Burroughs:
And, recalling some advice William Burroughs gave her, she says: "Build a good name. Keep your name clean. Be concerned about doing good work. Protect your work, and if you build a good name, eventually that name will be its own currency." Amen.

There are about a million quotes I'd like to post from the book I am currently reading. Catastrophe - Europe Goes to War 1914 by Max hastings. For now I will just quote one, it is desperately sad in the context of WW1, but feckin funny in the context of this forum:
A photo of a few Belgish soldiers looking like they know how to fight. The description:
"Belgians doing their modest best"….

The aim is always to get the same size for each batch, but growing cotton, weaving denim and making clothes is a little like making wine. Year after year, you do what appears to be the same thing but the results are different…
Awesome analogy about the variation between different batches of the "same" jeans.

Nottingham ( UK ) is my home town and for my sins I support Nottingham Forest Football club.
Some of you who follow football ( soccer ) will most likely of heard of the famous Forest manager Brian Clough. He managed the club between 1975 and 1993.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Clough when I was a youngster, he was every bit as enigmatic as his reputation. Looking back I am extremely happy and proud to have been able to meet the man, he is a legend within the Forest and footballing community.
Some of his quotes are quite funny and certainly memorable, my favourite Clough quotes are listed below. You can tell from his words that Mr Clough was not short on confidence or attitude, he deservedly won his nickname of "old Big Head"
“I wouldn’t say I was the best manager in the business…but I was in the top one.”
“The River Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.”
“Rome wasn’t built in a day, but then again I wasn’t on that particular job.”
On dealing with player disagreements: “We talk about it for 20 minutes and then we decide I was right.”

I am not a Forest Fan (Newcastle United), but Cloughie was indeed a legend.

A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.
