Pocketknives/Kitchen Knives/Fixed Blades

Seawolf, that Laguiole really caught my eye, to the extent that I've spent the last two days researching them - can't seem to find any UK dealers, which is a pity as I'd like to check one out before I buy. I'm undecided as to which maker, but the favourites are Laguiole en Aubrac and Fontenille-Pataud, then it's just a choice between wood or horn handles.
Thanks for opening my eyes to these

I have an Aubrac, and I love it. My dad brought it back from Provence, and it's my daily suit and tie carry.

Drool. Those steak knives are so elegant. Lori and I have longed for a set.

Glad you like them JSJ.
As you can imagine, our kitchen at home is pretty well stocked, but steak knives are one thing we never really picked up. Earlier this year we were planning a trip to the UK and France and decided we should look for steak knives over there. I knew I wanted Lagiole, but I didn't know anything about them until I started doing some research. I'm so glad I settled on Lagiole En Aubrac because they feel so well made. The Juniper handles smell amazing, and I'm sure they will patina over time. I also wanted steak knives that weren't serrated so that I could sharpen them.

Well done, G. SeaWolf, now you're making me want them even more!!!

The thing is, the name Lagiole isn't protected like "champagne" for example, and can be used by anyone. There are only a few makers that are actually hand-crafting Lagiole knives.

Figured. Don't know shit about em. Jean Dubost I think. Either way, needed steak knives and the price was right.
-
Haha right?
-
Really G? They're gorgeous and likely forged at least.
