The deal I struck with H was to take every single Herringbone he is making (That is now 288 shirts, as we managed to get a few more cut from the fabric than we thought we would), but I had to take less UHF than I wanted. Given where we were, this was the best compromise I could reach.
This was a particularly painful fuck up and I will be sitting down with Haraki to discuss and work out a better process when I am in Thailand. Just believe me, that me knowing how to fix this (and I do) is only part of the path to a solution.
I have said this before, but it bears repeating. Making too many of an item, so that I fulfil demand is not a good solution. It appears to be in the short term (at least from your pov), but if I get left with stock, I am tying up capital (which means I can't invest in other stuff - which you will as sure as hell want) and at some point I have to reduce the price to shift the stuff, thus my margins fall, so I have to increase the price of future stuff.

No idea where I am in the UHF email pecking order, but the clamour has me thinking I'm going to pass it up regardless - partly because I want as many people who love it to get one (it does look sweet), but mainly because I want this one real bad…

Actually as part of the discussions with H, he said that I could relieve him of more of last seasons herringbones that he had in the stores, so I have more the red and the grey coming in next week…
