Fucking A, I love this shirt. Traded with Nem for a L.

After seeing both IH wabash(s), I'm definitely partial to the 1st run. The brown retarding overdye is a really nice touch. It gives the fabric a vintage feel without being pre-distressed looking (ala RRL). Get some!!!

I agree completely, though I have only owned the latter version, I prefer the look ofvthe 55 and honestly from the measurement tables I think I'd like the cut better as well. The newest wabash western is cut very strange, IMO, I've never been able to out my finger on what it is but it just doesn't fit like it should in the lower part. It's almost like it flares out to a whole size bigger at the bottom as opposed to the shoulders and chest being snug fitting if that makes sense

^62 fits more like a workshirt then a western is what you're going for right? (I'd agree with that statement if that's what you're saying).

The new wabash looks like it has a green overcast. It's a little too bright for me. I'm interested to see how it fades, since its a rope-dyed warp and weft, where the 55 fabric is fabric-dyed. I think the 1st run wabash will give a more authentic fade, where the new wabash will have sharp contrast, due to the dyeing technique.

good info Mike. My 62 gets worn at least once a week, still waiting for any kind of fades to appear…as you know I'm a slow fader, so not unexpected that there's been no fading as yet 🙂

Shirts are hard as fuck to fade anyways. I'm not expecting my 55 to look good for at least 3-5years.

My 62 is already showing signs of future brilliance. Mike is correct that dramatic contrast is the name of the new wabash game.

Actually Mike.  I got the description of the early Wabash wrong.

The warp and the weft were rope dyed and then we fabric dyed a yellow/brown fixing dye.

I've updated the appropriate product pages…..

Couldn't a similar approach, a garment dip in black fixing dye, been used to stabilize Johnny?

It's obviously not that washed out in reality, nor am I. Can't recall how long I've had this now, but it's certainly one of my favourite shirts and gets a fair amount of wear. I like this a lot more than the newer darker Wabash, there's just something about it.
