                      Nice Sunset ^^^

For me, We did a Maori hangi at my daughters School to celebrate the month of Matariki.

                      A few pic's here.

Got up at 4.40 am to start the hangi (a earth oven) which we burn heaps of wood, have lots of iron
bits, railway sleeper parts to heat up. Then load baskets up with Pork, Chicken, Veges to put in.

                      This is a condensed story.

Started the fire at 5 am, there were a group of about 7 hearty guys. It was fecking cold, we put the
irons in the hole then burnt the wood on top.

2 big baskets were filled up with the Pork and chicken, then 2 baskets of veges - Kumara (Sweet potato's,
                      Potatoes, Pumpkin, stuffing)

Fire was burning down nicely, it was hot as.

                      A very very hot Iron.

This was about 8 am, fire had burnt right down.

We had to dig all the ash out and left the irons in the bottom, this fella had his work gear which was very handy.

We put the baskets in the hole and covered them up with wet sacks, old sheets. Then buried them with
the dirt to keep in the heat.

                      Left over ashes

We let the hangi cook for about 4 and a half hours, then dug it up.

We were feeding about 440 odd Students, Teachers, Parents. about 5 diff tables were set up so the kids
could go thru and get their Kai (food).

The final verdict - most of the pork and Chicken were cooked so good there, falling of the bone stuff, most of the veges were cooked so a pass tick there. Some of the meat and veges was still under cooked so the hangi could hav been cooking for another hour perhaps.

The kids liked it, some of them had never had a hangi, lots of kids came back for 2nds and 3rds. The hangi I had was sweet as.

Then we did a big clean up.

                      Cheers

Have a safe 2021 IH Peeps.

                      Peace

Our house was built by the Admiralty in 1830.  We love living in it, it is beautiful and has some wonderful history, Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, The Duke of Boot and the King of the French (that is how English records describe him) ate a meal here one night after a great storm brew up and the King could not get out to his Royal Yacht to return to France after a state visit.

But it does have it's downsides….This is what will be doing on for the next few weeks....

Lovely morning doing local sightseeing with Twin (he will post some photos soon).  Then back at office trying very hard to focus on my new accounting software - it's all new and complicated and I have masses of setting up to do and historical data to enter  😠  Giles kept interrupting me with little anecdotes or random comments  😠 😠 😠  Had to find a way to silence him for a while… 😉

                                  Looks like fun, Twin.

Hotel pools are kinda awesome, especially in the city. Growing up in FL made me take water for granted.

This isn't a bad view either

I said I'd try and find a few on our house.

                                      Well here is one…

Well I guess if you mark one brick out of this lot, you will be able to find the person who stole the house…
