My timing, as ever, is impeccable, having just ordered some chopped Wabash painters, shamelessly stealing MikeC's idea.

    Think it, be it.

      Shall I resurrect?

Middle of winter down here. Perhaps next summer? Who am I kidding, I'll be doing denim all year for my 5th year straight 😉 😉

MY 14" inseam Wabash came in today.  Gonna love em.  Anyone got ideas on what to do with the trimmings?  You know what would be cool?  Zip off pant/shorts.  Hmm…

I'unno if done right it could be at least convenient!.. Of course, these pairs would come with a bottle of this:

                          You know it!

It's really more of an outdoor wear than a work wear thing so it would have to be done just right.

I was picturing rope fadez in the middle of my pant leg and liked the image. Zipper would be under the chain stitch so you wouldn't be able to tell you could zip legs onto em. Doubt I'll bother with it but struggling to find a use for that great fabric and hating to let it go to waste.

I grabbed Urbanwoodsman's brown IH-816s (waist 36) to chop into shorts. They are the same size from the knee up as my wabash shorts.  I'm really looking forward to breaking these in. IH cotton duck softens up beautifully with some wear.

You could use the trimmings for patching holes, even on other items. For example, if a beloved item becomes too old and tatty to wear in public I might patch it up and continue using it for gardening, DIY, or just slobbing around at home.

Thanks, that's normally my approach. That'd be a looootta patches. I do have a fucked up flat head 2011 Wabash some genius used a seam ripper to remove the pockets from. Some mismatched pocket flaps probably wouldn't make the thing look much worse…

I remember reading your post about the pocket flaps being removed with some incredulity.

Back to chicken legs: MikeC's wabash shorts on page 1 are seriously cool. The length and fit are spot on perfect, to my eye at least.
