Life is so sweet sometimes. Lori is cooking dinner and we're sipping one of my absolute favorites. Forêt. AKA Organic Saison DuPont.

Beer I picked up in Brussels. Only made there and has a sour tang, has something to do with the air there if I remember correctly.

Any other hop-heads?  Not sure that these styles are common outside of the US, though I've had some good variants down under, such as Little Creatures Pale Ale in Perth, seemingly modeled on the northwestern American Pale Ale style. The Belgians have made some hop-forward brews, but none that I've sampled quite have the punch I'm looking for. I think the esters introduced via bottle conditioning and the smaller bubbles take some of the bite away.

Taking this style of hop-forward, malt-backward style to an extreme:

                          Russian River Pliny the Elder
                          Three Floyds Dreadnaught
                          Bell's Hopslam!
                          Stone Ruination
                          Surly Abrasive Ale

All American Imperial IPAs in the West Coast tradition, which is to say, super bitter, lots of citrus/pine resin hop flavor, high proof, heavy mouthfeel, and a weak malt backbone, typically pale / crystal malts. Unbalanced, brash, obnoxious, uncouth, and either beloved or hated… American ;).

                          Think it, be it.

I've tried all of those except the Surly. They're all great, especially Pliny and Hopslam. Founders Devil Dancer is awesome as well, but it is a bit maltier.

Killer IPA, and the best beer I've ever had out of a can.
