im loving the fit of my new 555 but this sbg denim is stiff as hell. should i be expecting to soften up at least a little?

Here I thought that my 555-03 was softer than the signature denim in my DC4001 when it were new. They will get a lot more comfortable. Wear em hard.

Wow, 3 months? I hope mine turn up half as good by that time.

You haven't soak them, have you?

nope, nothing done to them except wearing'em!
the best thing about those is though, that they are versatile as f…! I can wear these every. no matter if it's for going out with friends, for going to university (not that I have to anymore ^^) or just to chill at home...just everywhere! 🙂

nope since there really is no need to! this denim is sanforized, so no soak/wash needed. unpack them and start to wear them immediately mate…enjoy!

thanks, since they're stated as being sanforized but unwashed, I was wondering if people (and if I) should be soaking them first…also what did you have your inseem hemed to because thats a perfect length...much appreciated

I'd personally advise a soak.  And I would reckon on about 1/2" shrinkage in the inseam, but also allow for creasing behind the knees too….

Thanks Giles, is there any reason these were treated differently than other sanforized models and not rinsed?

gonna tell you the exact measurement of the inseam of my pair by tomorrow. not at home atm. so I don't have the wand around me…
what I actually did is, I wore them for a few weeks unhemmed, then I decided to let them hem, cuffed to the "right" length, send them to Giles (cuffed) and told Giles to hem at cuffed length + 0.5cm! that's actually all I did...no numbers no nothing.

When I soaked these they bled like absolute crazy, the entire tub was pitch black. Is this much dye loss to be expected and why do these bleed like that when regular indigo doesn't? A little concerned about the state of my brand new jeans so any input is much appreciated.

I soaked mine with hot water but they didn't turn the water that black. A bit greyish, alright, but definitely not pitch black.
I wouldn't mind much though, I'm sure your jeans are still very dark.

@thompsoa - had the same experience during first soak. I think these bleed more cause the warp and the weft are dyed, whereas in regular indigo jeans only the warp threads are dyed. Just my 2cents though…

Not strictly true, the Weft is enzyme dyed and will not fade, the warp is sulphur dyed and will lose colour.  That's the way Haraki designed it…..

Thanks guys, I soaked mine for about 45 minutes in warm water but removed them due to the loss of color that was occurring.

Giles, so this is standard color loss in other sbg models that are rinsed prior to selling? And is it due to excess dye or did i just rinse off a shade of black? I didn't want that to happen, when you advised soaking I expected the same situation as soaking other Iron hearts, and does this mean they are going to fade quicker or should they hold the color for the same duration? And thank you again in advance for the input.
