Alex completed his HSE Commercial Scuba part IV course on Friday.
His first job (which I think starts tomorrow), is building a test torpedo firing tube at one of the Naval research facilities in Gosport. Sarina said over dinner, "so he's not the target then?"
He should earn enough in 2 weeks to pay for the course.
Well done Alex.

Typed "Worst Things About Mansfield" (the town where I live) into Google, and came across this page….
http://www.knowhere.co.uk/Mansfield/Nottinghamshire/Midlands/info/worstthings
….it's a collection of thoughts from some of my fellow residents. People with a passion for correct spelling and punctuation had better not read it.

Go Alex! That's badass!

Commercial diving is a tough job. Mentally and physically challenging. Your life depends on all the people who are working with you. If visibility is poor, you feel that you are in complete isolation (that may be a good thing!) other than the voice from the crew on the surface. Congrats, Alex. Deep sea oil rig next?

This is awesome, congrats. I wanted to do this when I was younger but never did, my friend did and went on to do diamond diving off the coast of Namibia.
Good for you Alex.

Thanks everyone. I'm looking forward to it.. It should be pretty interesting.
Omega man - I'm thinking about it, yes. Bit probably in a couple of years at least.. I actually enjoy the zero viz stuff, weird I know!
Hectic - Diamond diving seems pretty interesting, a bit of an upgrade from gold diving by the looks of it.. (Not sure if anyone saw Bering Sea Gold)
