I'll counter all the drinking in here, and say that other than the year before last year (when I tried again in ernest), I've been sober for 5 years. Not had a drink for the last 18 months. Have some $50/bottles being cellared under the stairs since 2009….Happiness is swimming, cycle, coffee, and denim

I admire you man, honestly. Me and Pam have talked about making next year the year of change for us in many ways, and it looks very much like it's going to happen. We're going to…
- Work for ourselves.
- Cut the booze right down (mainly me).
- Take charge of our finances, as quite a few things have conspired against us this year.
- Get healthy (again).
Shit has slipped for too long.

@Mega, that's mega all round! On the whole not drinking, it's all about the habits you have now, and your reforming them. It's not easy nor is it socially accepted, but the long term mental and physical health benfits are worth it. Plus a whole lot more time for the other items on your list
GO YOU TWO!

Cheers guys, we are definitely needing to put our house back in order, and now is the time

Good for you. The only times I have more than one drink in a night are at large parties (like the IH/SE weekend). I'll have a beer or a glass of wine with my dinner maybe once every couple of months.
I used to drink really heavily seven days a week, but saw how drinking excessively can change people and throttled back fast and hard (my best friend and ex girlfriend both managed to alienate everyone around them)
I stay focused on family, work and exercise now

I, too, am mostly a social drinker. The IH/SE party probably involved more booze consumption for me than the previous 6 months combined. It was a great time, though.
And like you, Mega, I feel the need to make some changes. Specifically, I need to shed some weight (30+ lbs.) and improve my cardiovascular health.

Upon the recommendation of a couple members here, I started doing kettlebells at home for strength and cardio training. Hugely recommended. Bought the "Skogg System" DVDs on Amazon and have been using them religiously for four months now

I watched Avengers last night. I have this image of your cat going airborne like a bad guy getting launched off Thor's hammer…
