Is an overdyed 666s in 34 the same jeans as a 666s sz.34? Just overdyed? Both start raw with the same measurements?

There much different feeling denim though after OD

I compared the measurements and saw the huge difference.
Giles says that the 18oz raw denim shrinks about three percent.
which sounds a bit little. I always thought raw denim shrinkage is around 8 percent.
which would explainbthe measurement difference between 666s and 666sOd.

        why so serious?

I think the overdye is done in boiling water or something cause it shrinks the piss out of them, my 34 was TIGHTTTTT. And I'm a 33 waist. I could barely get them on

don't forget the 666Sod stretches back to tagged size like in no time. so if you "boil soak" the 666s I think they will get to the 666Sod measurements as well…Just guessing though!

I said the raw 18oz denim shrinks 3%. - by that I mean our 18oz raw.  That is accurate.

Some raw denim shrinks as much as 10%.  I have not done shrink tests on other brands of denim, so I can't be accurate.

I'm confident that I could get Haraki and Ono to make me a denim that shrinks 15% if I really wanted (which I don't).

Well, not boiling, but super hot and super aggressive

This is something else that people often fail to take into account- "super aggressive."  Just soaking your jeans won't get as much shrinkage as running them through the washing machine.  Agitation increases the shrinking process dramatically.

^true that Chris…that's why I can't see why one shouldn't get the 666s to the measurements of a 666Sod in the same size, after an initial hot wash! the od process is nothing else imo!...

Correct.  And I have often said, the OD process "over shrinks" the denim as the process is so aggressive, but much of that shrinkage comes out very quickly with wear.

Correct as well…my tagged 38 Sod measured ~35" at the beginning but stretched to a comfy 37" after just a few days/weeks of wear. in the end I had to sell them since they were too big after all...

I ran mine through the washer last night and hang dried them.  I thought to myself this morning, let's pull 'em on and see if they shrunk a bunch…  No one should sweat that much at 7:30 in the morning.

Not to induce seller's remorse in any way, but I liked your fit in the 666od, despite what my original comments might have intimated. There's slim fit and then there's skinny…I guess it depends on the wearer's level of comfort and personal style.

well the biggest reason for me selling them is that i haven´t worn them one single time in 2012 (ok, let´s say like 5times max.!) and i somehow just didn´t fell comfortable while wearing, so they had to go. the fit was a nice one you´re right, but them jeans just wasn´t me!…now i´m happy though, since i´ve made someone else happy! 🙂

You said the waist stretched to a 37 too and your a 35, I couldn't deal with that on jeans. Bunched up denim on the waist band is garbage.
