i think this is inevitable with steel toe boots.  just about every construction worker I have seen with steel toe's has this happen at some point in the boots life.  not sure if its because steel toe's give the wearer an urge to kick more shit, or if the steel creates a certain abrasion that wears teh toe down quicker.

at least that would be the reason in my case 😉 😉 😉

what about their Harness boots? I need a pair of boots that can withstand the rainy, cold and overall shitty winter weather in Paris when I ride and I dont want to ruin my cowboy boots, which are designed for the Texas dryness and heat…

So I'm pretty much set on the harness type, but I don't know which brand is the best.

                      Any advice would be appreciated.

I've had Frye harness boots for years. I don't ride, but they were very good for in in a number of wet environments, including seafood processors and several feet of snow. The only treatment they got was Obenaufs after I jumped in the Pacific Ocean

Yeah, thise Fryes look pretty. Hard to decide over photos on websites. I need to try them on. I saw some badass Wesco harness boots, too. Cant figure out if the heel is higher on those than on the Chippewas and Fryes…

I'm thinking about the Engineer boots lately (27899) but haven't read or heard much about Chippewa boots. Anyone got this model?

Price point is less than RW's but I've heard Chippewa is as good or better in quality. How do they wear in the long run? Basically just looking for a little assurance on them before I buy.

Ahh…if that's your only concern..I don't have first hand experiece on RW Engineers, but my Chippewas have served me well. They are (well mine, 16" high shine) a bit roomy. Nothing serious, but I think I could have gone 8,5D instead of my normal 9D.  On stee-toe like mine I'd play safe and take my normal size though, steel-toe isn't forgiving. If you have possibility to try them on, I'd advise that.

Go for them. Be different, dare to  wear something else than RW 😉

Sounds good! I'm looking at the 11" matte steel toe model. Definitely want to try them on first because of the steel toe (I need EE usually) but am hoping for that reason they will make half decent moto boots. Don't know about the nitrile sole though.
