This was on my SR's when I got them.  Didn't call customer service, didn't take them to a tailor because the buttonhole stitch is still intact.  The fraying is just some frayed weft threads that were probably agitated during the sewing of the buttonholes.  These jeans are almost, if not more than a year old, so nothing of consequence has happened to the jeans because of this phenomenon.  I did not cut them because when I tried, I just pulled more thread out from the weave, but I didn't try very hard so it could be done with sharp scissors.

adam313: The issue with your jeans seems similar to mine.

From what I can tell, it looks like the button hole stitch is intact, and that loose threads are poking out from under the stitching.

At any rate, I think I am just going to stop by a local tailor and see what they have to say. Then, I'll either trim the threads, or have the buttonholes re-stitched.

            Thanks for your time!

You´re right, but I read on this nice forum, you should soak a fresh pair of jeans before you wear them. The stitches should settle and stuff like that. It´s up to you if you soak em or not. It´s the same with washing. If my pair is really dirty, I wash em of course!

Always soak before wearing, not only does this shrink the raw denim to tag size, it also beds in the constructional stitching, lessening the possibility of a stitching problem (e.g. crotch blowout).  Ideally soak for an hour or so in a bathtub or large sink of hot water and drip dry.  If you cannot drip dry, soak up the excess water with an old towel and lie flat on a clothes rack to dry.

I always wash my clothes before I wear them the first time.  Doesn't matter if it's jeans or anything else.  I like to get rid of the starch, sizing, shelf dust, or whatever else might have accumulated in the fabric before I got it.  Comes from when I was a kid and had allergic reactions occasionally to new clothes (or something in them).

As others have said, a soak won't do any harm, so don't worry about it and just do your own thing.:)
